Mrs. Bakker's Kindergarten II class has
been painting snow pictures decorated
with chalk snowflakes, making snowmen
from different shapes .and cutting
snowflakes from folded paper. Best of all,
they have had fun playing in the snow.
Mrs. Paolin's Kindergarten class has
been working on a booklet "All About Me"
and they are almost finished. On Wednes-
day, January 27 the class is going to the
Wawanosh Nature Centre for a Snow
Walk, Snow Talk morning.
Miss Mathers' Grade is have started
learning "take away" number stories. On
Friday, January 22nd they welcomed Mrs.
Graham to our classroom. She taught
them how to do "String Pulling". They
have many interesting pictures!
Miss Jewitt's Grade 1 class has been
busy practising their adding facts to 7.
They have also been enjoying nursery
rhymes and are hunting for as many dif-
ferent rhymes as they can find.
Mr. Spittal's Grade 5-6 class is reading
the 31's program. In their Greece study,
they are making mosaics out of paper
shapes. For the last week, they have been
making stories about a princess or
prince's journey to the Enchanted Garden.
Some had trolls, dragons and much more.
The class wishes Jennifer Black"- a Happy
Birthday.
, Grade 3 is doing snow and winter ac-
tivities and are learning how to write. Mrs.
Graham came in and taught them to mix
paint. They painted designs and outlined in
black.
Some pupils from Mrs. Worsell's Grade
5 class have been polling classes about
their favourite pets so they can graph the
results. 'Thanks to the staff and students
for their co-operation.
Mrs. Tebbutt's Grade 6 class has just'
started •a geometry unit in Mathematics.

Chalmers W.M.S. Whitechurch
Chalmers W.M.S. was held on Jan. 20 at
2 pm at the home of Mrs. Agnes Gaunt in
Wingham. The leaders were Mrs. Barbara
Rintoul and Mrs., Jean Ross.
Mrs. Ross gave the call to worship and a
thought for the day: "It is better to see
crosswords printed in the newspaper than
to hear crosswords spoken daily in the
hortie".
Scripture lesson from John was taken by
Mrs. Ross and also the meditation on "En-
ding the Old, Beginning the New" followed
by prayer.
Readings were given by Barbara Rin-
toul. A contest, "Name the Hymn", was
done by the ladies.
The topic was given by Mrs. Ross,
"Thoughts for the New Year". A 'Get well'
card was signed for Rev. Mrs. John
Neilson by the ladies.
Roll call was name a verse with the word
"Beginning"
President Mrs. Kathleen Elliott presided
for the business. Minutes were read by the
Assistant Secretary, Mrs. Norma Rintoul,
and the business was discussed. Mrs.
Wallace Milligan gave the closing prayer.
Mrs. Gaunt served a delicious lunch,
courtesy was given by Mrs. Elliott.
Local News
Mr. and Mrs. Rob Gunn of Owen Sound
visited on Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Dave
Ross.
Mrs. Walter Elliott, Mrs. Archie Purdon
and Mrs. Don Ross 'attended the annual
meeting of the Maitland Presbyterial held
at St. Andrew's Church in Wingham on
Monday.
Mr. and Mrs. Ted McClenaghan of Kit-
chener visited on Sunday with Mildred Mc -
They have a table set with three-
dimensional solid shapes, two-dimensional
shapes, geo-boards, design blocks, and
geometric puzzles. They have also used
the "Mira" to discover lines of symmetry.
The Room 12, Grade 7 class is starting
factors in Mr. Liddles math class. They
are going skating on the 22nd. Wednesday
the 27th is the last day of Industrial Arts
and Family Studies then they switch.
Their class will be saying speeches on
February 1st until February 5th: They
have begun research on science projects.
In Music, they have started to use the
ukulele and have started using chords:
The Dinosaur Den is turning into an
Olympic Headquarters this month! They
are learning all about the different events,
and writing computer stories about them.
Do you know what the Luge and the
Biatholon are? They are also, learning
about Canada by following the Olympic
Torch on its 'way. They are making a
jigsaw puzzle of Canada too. Angela
McDonald is our "Special Me" this week.
Sports News
On January 15, the junior volleyball
teams travelled to Goderich to compete in
a volleyball tournament. Both teams did
well in their matches. Congratulations to
all team members. Thank you to Mr. Lid-
dle, Miss Jewitt, Mrs. Blanchette, and
Miss Mathers for coaching.
The houseleague program is well under-
way. The junior teams are busy playing
floor hockey and .the senior teams are
playing road hockey and broomball.

Clenaghan. Mrs. Norma Ritoul spent a few
days with Mr. and Mrs. Lenard Robinson
of Belgrave.
4-H Meets
The 4-H meeting of the Whitechurch club
was held on Jan. 18 at 7 pm at the horue,of
the leader, Mrs. Kathleen Elliott. They
opened with the 4-H pledge and answered
the roll call with Sewing Machine Review
which consisted of 8 questions to answer.
The business was dealt with and the girls
decided on a book cover for their project.
Each girl is making a blouse, and took the
time to work on it. They also learned how
to attach a collar and a yoke on their
blouse.
The home activities was to do the sleeves
and finish it up. Mrs. Elliott demonstrated
how to slip stitch a hem. The meeting dos-
ed with the motto. The next meeting is
Feb. 9 at 7 pm at the Elliott home.
Annual Meeting
Chalmers Presbyterian Church
Whitechurch held its annual meeting on
Sat. Jan. 23 at 2 pm. Rev. John Neilson was
chairman. The meeting was opened with a
hymn and Rev. Neilson read the scripture
lesson.
Archie Purdon acted as secretary.
Reports were read and adopted. The
business was dealt with. New managers
were appointed for three years: Don Ross,
Wm. Purdon, Agnes Gaunt, Helen Rintoul,
Mrs. A. Purdon. A hymn was sung, and
Rev. Neilson closed with prayer.
