The first meeting of the South Kinloss
W.M.S. for 1988 was eld January 12 and
hosted by Mrs. n MacDougall at the
church hall. D rectors for the meeting
were Mrs. Leonard Clarke, Mrs. Roely
deBoer and Mrs. Harold Campbell.
The president, Mrs. Clarke, opened the
meeting with a "New Year's Promise".
The purpose of the W.M.S. was read and
Mrs. Clarke lead the group in prayer.
"Standing at the Portal" was sung by all
accompanied by Mrs. Vera Schmidt on the
piano.
The secretary's minutes were read and
approved and the correspondence dealt
with. The treasurer's report and Ladies
Aid report were also heard at this time.
Mrs. deBoer gave a well prepared Bible
Study from Mathew 9, verse 9 - 13.
Prayer Circle included Mrs. Olive
Needham, Mrs. Hamilton and Mrs Lloyd
MacDougall.
Mrs. Evan Keith recited a poem, "Two
Raindrops", followed by a discussion of
various business matters.
Roll call was answered by 18 members -
with a New Year's Resolution.
Mrs. Harold Campbell gave a thought
provoking Bible Quiz. Mrs. Leonard
Clarke capably presented the Mission
Study which was an introduction to the
U.S.S.R., 1000 years of Christianity, its
past, present and future.
Mrs. Harold Howald read the poem
"What do you Carry on Sunday'.
The offering was collected followed by
Mrs. Leonard Maclnnis presenting the of-
feratory prayer.
The next meeting of the South Kinloss
W.M.S. will be February 2 at 2 p.m. at the
manse with Mrs. Rev. Allison Ramsay as
hostess. The roll call will be a deed of love.
The hymn "Breathe on Me, the Breath of
God" was sung with the closing prayer of-
fered by Mrs. Harry Lavis. Courtesy
remarks were heard by . Mrs. Leonard
. Clarke.
Grace was sung before a lovely angel
cake lunch was served by the hostees and
the directors. '
The first Shoot Party of 1988.,was held
Jan. 11 in St. Helens, with six tables at
play. Prizes were high lady, Muriel Moffat
with 226; high man, Jim Errington with
288; low lady, Brock Baynard - playing as..
a lady, with 95; and low man, Bruce
Raynard with 79. Shirley Hunter won the
cut for most shoots. The next party is plan-
ned for January.25.

V.I.P. Program bias
begun at the school
Many parishioner attended a social held
at the Goderich Legion Friday, Jan. 9th.
The social was held to honour Jim Doherty
who has retired after many years of ser-
vice to Sifto Salt. Also retiring at this time
is another parishioner, Theo Van Diepen.
During Father Ed's vacation stay, in
Florida, Father Tim Uniac of Waterloo of
the Congregation of the Resuriectionists;,is
most capably taking over the pastoral
duties.
Thursday evening, Jan. 14th the Bible
class continued their studies at the school
with a look at the Second Story of Creation
and Original Sin. The classes continue
weekly on Thursday evenings at 7:30 p.m.
in the school.
Several parishoners attended the Pro -
Life meeting held at their new office over
the Park Theatre in Goderich, chaired by
President Mark Lalonde. Among the
business discussed was a date for the of-
ficial opening and volunteers for phone
counselling.
The Grade 5/6 and 7/8 class began their
V.I.P. (Values, Influences and Peers)

Wednesday, Jan. 13th saw another
unschedd1ed holiday for the staff and
students yecause of severe wintry
weather.
Thursday the Senior Boys' and Senior
Girls' Volleyball teams travelled to St.
Mary's in Goderich for an exhibition
volleyball tournament in preparation for
the zone finals at St. Joseph's in Clinton on "
Mon., Jan. 18th.
On Friday afternoon the whole school
had another opportunity to enjoy skating
at the arena in Goderich. They are looking
forward to several more" opportunities to
improve their skating skills.
