The Kincardine detach -
Merit of •the OPP will
embark upon a new initia-
tive to find out bow com-
munities in its jurisdiction
feel about OPP services.
Right new, Kincardine is
one of a few SeleCtOd areas
that will be conducting the
computer based survey
"Policing for Results" via
_telephone. Staff Sgt. Paul
Homes says the survey
will eventually be con-
ducted province wide.
The telephone surveys
will be conducted in late
November to early
December by volunteers
working 'with Ainslie
Ivlartyn,. the OPPs volun-
teer community partner.
About 15,000 phone
numbers will be fed into
the data baseaccording to
Constable Tony Hymers,
who will oversee only the
technological end of the
Asurvey. Phone numbers
wilt be chosen at random
and the volunteers will
call these numbers. Calls
wilt be made during the
evenings and on Saturdays.
in order to.facilitate actual
contact with apeman..
Hymers estimates it
will take about 4,000 calls
to complete the required
400 surveys. Many vari-
ables contribute to this,
such as no answer at the
number, a busy signal,. or
refusal to answer the sur-
vey. As well, the survey
s kwai irtput regarding polieing
qualify for the survey
either
-
The whole survey will
be on a computer screen in
front of the volunteer who
will pose the question and
' enter the response.
Anyone wishing to
question the authenticity
11 of the survey and the
caller may do so by call-
ing the OPP Com Centre
at 1-888-310-1122.
