We've allheard of the Wingham and
Area. Seniors Day Centre, but do we real-
ly know what goes on there? I made a
visit to the Day Centre recently and
through a little wordage and some pic-
tures, lr'11 sham with you what L found out,

where you. are°always greeted by a friend-
ly
riendly smile and a welcoming hello..
As you enter, you . are apt to find a
mixture of people busy in various ways -
playing caret games, crokinole, working
on crafts, visiting with others, or reading,,
The Day Centre is 'aaplace to came and
enjoy the company of others, a nutritious
hot lunch, and snacks all .in an environ-
ment where you know people care.
There's cdregiving support groups,. a
resource •centre for anyone toaccess.
group programs tailored to individual
needs, health clines, a reference library
from the Alzheimer Society,. and a wide
variety of special events each Month. Yon
eaneven purchase frozen meals,prepared
in: the awesome kitchen by the Day
Centre's own meal supervisor. 'flake them
home and you're relieved of the cooking

Volunteers are an integral part of the
success of the Day Centr. Sallie Lawtons
executive director, says this is a service
that will never be funded wholly by the
government. Without the dedicated vol-
unteers, the program would suffer.

Day Centre in Winghann give them a call
at 357=1440, For $12 a day you receive
your transportation to and from the Day
Centre, a hot meal and all activities.
