"booming success"

The first Black and
Goold ti.tchnow Minor
Hockey School has been
declared a "booming suc-
cess" by Paul Harnilton,
one of the organi4ers.
Over . the past two
'weeks, 122 boys and girls,
and two age groups. honed'
their hockey skilla under
thewatchful;, eye of Al
GTodfrey, a coach with a
. long list of credentials and
35 years experience in
hockey schools. Some
players Were from as far
away as. Calgary and
Waterloo.
"Without a doubt, it's
(hockey school) a go for.
next summer," said an
ecstatic- Hamilton, who
already has two young-
sters from Connecticut
enrolled for 1999.
Godfrey took a few
minutes of f ie e. last
Wednesday to 'talk to the
Sentinel.. .
' "For the first year, we
are, real pleased:;". said
Godfrey. "This hockey
school is good for the kids
and the area," he said. ft's
good for the community to
show off the rink."
Godfrey described the ice
as "exceptional.• The build- •
ing is *good there is no

Watching the players on
the ice, Hamilton reflects,
"If the money hadtft been
spent where it was when.
this conaplex was built,
this (school) wouldn't have
been possible."
He attributed the figure
skating school, whic:lt has
also been running in
August, as being instru-
mental in the .hockey
school going ahead, "If the
Figure skating;school had-
n't booked tee time right
up . front, . this whole
wouldn't have been feasi-
ble," said ;Hamilton.
On Saturday, Dori
Polizigni and his coaching
staff from Yale University
were in town to give two
hour :sessions to the Pee
Wes and $antams..
While the ice has been
in during the month of
August, several junior
teams have taken advan-
tage of it; as have the
Lancers and other local
teams:

a few growing pains, but
