By the time: the (Ontario
Provincial Ponce got
InvolvedThursday morn-
ing, the house had already •
been used as a headquar-
ters for the massive search
effort because the family
hadbeen prohibited by
Kincardine pollee from
using the local' schools,
tire department and police
• • station as a search head-
quarters. .•

sight being 20-2
Jim said "we knew we
shouldn't; have been doing
anything in the house,"
The family. still finds it
difficult to: understand
why the police failed to
take their concerns seri-
_ously in the beginning.
Despite the initial prob-
lems, the family has been.
pleased with the efforts of
investigators since the
OPP took over the investi-
gation on July 7, 1988.
• More questions.
After 10 years the fami-
ly has more questions than
answers and her disap-'`
pearance continues • to
haunt ' her. family and
friends,
The pain was evident as
Lois' mother Olive said,
"If we could just find her.
You just wonder. There'll
be :answers, there's got to
be. t just don't know how
long we'll have to wait.
Olive continued; '"Tt"s one
person that kn:ows,the
person that leek ,her."
Dave added, "that's just it.
You could go around and
around and just wear Your-
self
ourself down trying to salve
the thing yourself or what.
could have happened or
who .might have been
involved."
While the family feels
Lois was abducted; they
still hope that she May
-have left on her own"
Dave said,: "I hope that
there's a possibility that,
.she did leave because
that's a lot better than the
options if she didn't leave
on her own, right." He
added, "when we were
•doing that initial seareh
through that first week we
weren't looking for some,
one who was in trouble.
Right from the word go,
we knew something was
wrong." Olive added, "It
doesn't make any more
sense than the day she left..
It really doesn't."
Over the. last 10 years:•
the family had to adjust to
-the: torture of dealing with
telephone calls from the
police and media every
time a female body is
found- The family and
police are hoping that
someone can bring an end
to their. nightmare„ .
End the nightmare
The police have inter-
viewed over 500 people to
date and are currently try-
ing., to identify everyone
who was at the 1988
Lucknow Reunion Dance:
On . July 3,: They are asking
anyone who took pictures
that' night to turn them
over to police to assist
with the investigation.
Lois' brother Jim • said,,
"they take the picture. and•
identify everyone in the
foreground and then try,'
and identify everyone in
the background," When it
comes to the investigation.
even the: smallest item
may help solve the case.
The family hopes that
everyone who was at that
dance will: come forward
to assist.
"If there, was someone
in the Kincardine area that..
saw people around Lois'
house," Jim ..said, "or if
Someone' saw someone
who appeared to be, acting.
strangely around Lois at
the reunion or at the
dance, then the police
need to know,. tt could
mean nothing. It probably
does mean nothing butit
could mean everything,
we don't know." •
Dave explained,, "tile
people that saw Lois at the
danee - the police ,really,
really, need to talk to them.
If They saw her at the
dance, if they $aw her
leave the danee, if they
saw her show up to the
dance, if they noticed, her
at any time through that
dance . Did. you hump into
her as she was leaving the
dance? Did you 'notice her
'
leave?"
• "They've identified: a
large number of people
who were at that dance
from photographs but
there's 20 per cent or so
than they can't identify,"
Jim added,
Pictures are the key
According to Dave the
problem is that many peo-
ple haven't brought for -
"ward pictures thinking that
it's ju•st their moi. or dad
in the picture and it does-
n't mean anything. Jim and
Dave say that according to
the police the public does-
n'e seem -to realize, that the
picture usually has people
in the background that the
police:may be able to
