Montgomery Ford in Kincardine has
been named Kincardine's Business of the
Year.
Sponsored by the Kincardine, and
District Chamber of Commerce, the
award will bepresented to the, staff. of
Montgomery' Ford . at thechamber's
achievement awards night on Feb. 6.
"l' m;: very proud," said Ian
Montgomery, adding•that the award
reflectsthe customer' service hisstaff pro-
vides. .
Montgomery Ford is a division of
Montgomery Motors. Being awarded
"Business of the Year" seems particuarly.
appropriate this year as the companycel-
ebrates its 50th anniversary.
It's the icing on a year that saw Ford

The Montgomeryame and Ford go
back 50.ycars to 1948, when'Ian's. father, ,
Gordon, purchased; the existing Ford
Garage in Lucknow. He sold Ford trac"-
tors °and farm equipment,. as well as ,the
.full Ford line of vehicles until 1971 when';
the Ford farm equipment 'business was'.
sold to Stuart :Reavis.
Though Gordon was semi retired, he
worked in the business until the day he`',
died, April 8, 1994.
His two .sons, Ian and James were ;-
involved in the business. Both worked ;on
the floor" with the. other employees. 'Ian
became a licensed body mechanic and
James a licensed motor 'mechanic.
The Montgomerys purchased, the
-Kincardine,Ford dealership in, 1982, and
James' took Over its operation 'at that dine.:'
andcontinued in that capacity until' his
•. death on July 24,;1993.
A school bus line that started in 1951
with three school bus routes continues to
grow, and recently 22 more bus runs• in
Shakespeare and Stratford were added.
The busbusiness operates under .the
name G. T. Montgomery Ltd.
