on impaired drivers
With the holiday season approaching,
the Ontario Provincial Police want to
remind the public of the danger of mixing
alcohol with travel. hi a continuing effort
to make Ontario highways safer, the OPP
plan, to. continue the crackdown• on
impaired drivers this holiday season.
• Up until. Jan. 2, 1998, the OPP will
team up with other police agencies and
organizations for .the annual RIDE
(Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere)
campaign, as a continuing effort to curb
the death toll on Ontario roads..
As part of this:year's campaign,
MAPD (Mothers Against Plunk Drivers.)
Will once again distribute its familiar red
ribbons to motorists to promote sober.dri-
• ving; In addition, Canada's Safety
Council proclaimed "Impaired Driving -
• Does Canada Measure Up?". as thetherne
for, last week's Safe Driving Week. Theie
programs will complement the OPP's fes-
tive season initiative with; the • common,
'objective of promoting safe, sober
