Living as Christians in
a violent society was the
theme for the fall rally of
the Maitland Presbyterial
when they met in the
Teeswater Presbyterian
Church on Sept. 22.
Karen Lowe from
Women's House of Bruce
County was the guest
speaker talking about wife
abuse.. It is not a new
problem( but there is more
known about the 'violence
that is so widespread.
Wifo assault happens to
many women; at all
income and education lev-
els, in all social classes, in
all religious and ethnic
groups.
We can help by sup-
porting these women and
giving them more infor-
mation on the opportuni-
ties available. Pamphlets
can be placed in doctors,
and lawyers offices as
well as volunteers are
always needed at the home
in Kincardine.
First vice' president,
Shirley McCall of
Kincardine welcomed 16
WMS . groups and opened
the meeting, with an intro-
duction of the theme and
asking How can we make
a difference? She read "I' -
Love That Word,
Impossibld," and led in
prayer.
The devotions were led'
by the Lucknow •NTS
with Donalda Moffat read-
ing the . scripture 11f
Corinthians chapter 13
and Norma Raynard giv-
ing the mediation on
"Love that is a language
everyone understands."
The Teeswater, choir
sang a lively musical num-
ber: Following .the gather-
ing of the offering, Audrey
Adair of Molesworth led
in, prayer..
