verboard! an excellent
comedy based on real life
Deborah Kimmett's
portrayal of a career
woman, tired of the con-
tinuous demands placed
upon her in her job, and as •
a mother .and wife is a
.hu.morotis portrayal of
what many women feel' at
some point in their lives...
Many in.the small audi-
ence that took in the Aug.
.14 run of Overboard!
could probably identify.
with Dox. Lawton's, desire .
to escape the demapds .of •
her .life.
The simple setting of a
small boat for the one-
womancomedy was effec-
tive as it was Kimmett's
portrayal of herself and.
several other bizarre char-
acters she meets on a four-
day`cruise .that keeps you
involved. Fier changes in
voice, face and body lan-
guage help you to visual-
ize the whining, wimpy
•character; the aggressive,
female boss wanting tobe
male; and :the' heavy drink-
ing,. inebriated, gravel
voiced smoker, all who are
full of advice and critical
• of Lawton's life.
As her four days of
self-analysis takes .place,
Law.ton's cruise turns into
a voyage for a deeper
meaning to herlife.
The grass is not always,
greener ....
•• Overboard! runs. until
Aug. 23 *at theGarage. It's
a good comedy with only
one line that borders, .on
raunchy for family enter-
tainment.
