Mud bog is featured event at fair days

efforts of many people
who have come forth to
volunteer, give gifts of
money And other .dona-
tions that our 138th fair
will be the best ever," says
Bernice Glenn, a director
with the Dungannon
Agricultural Society.
Glenn made the com-
ment late last.. week when
she .revealed that a mud
bog is the big, new event
for .this weekend's faire.
days starting Friday night
with a .teen dance.
Organizers are hoping
the mud bog will give a

trucks to compete in cate-
gories based on wheel -
size. The goal is to drive

the mud pit, and the arm
wrestling competition will

the theme "Down on the

A special feature on
Sunday is entertainment

Townsend, fiddling cham-
pions, Glenn says Eleanor,
a former Dungannon girl,
has been wanting to come
to,Dungannon to play fair
days for some time.
There's two shows - 1 and
3p.m.
The antique tractor pull,
always • draws a large
crowd and number of par-
ticipants. This year's show
starts at noon.
Glenn says the horse
pull, getting Underway at
2:30 should be their best.
"Word is 15 teams are
coming, one from as far
away as Manitoulin
Island. We've got bigger
prizes this year," said
Glenn, "which is an added
incentive."
The crowning of •the
ambassador, prince and
princess takes place at 3•
p:m.
New events for children
on Sunday are the Tiger
Paw Exotics and petting
zoo, and. a lawn and gar-
den tractor pull, Various
children and youth activi=
ties are planned with Kim
and Lori Ladd entertaining
at2p.m.
A cooperative effort by
three organizations will
look after your supper
needs with a roast bee_ f
dinner starting at 4 p.m.
Dungannon's fair days
run Aug. 8, 9 and 10. The
hamlet may be small, but
the enthusiasm and dedi-
cation put into this yearly
event is huge as is the wel-
come you will receive.
