lgamations approved bu

by Pat Halpin
Two restructuring .proposals affecting
four municipalities were approved by
Bruce county council April 15, but that
wasn't enough to satisfy restructuring,
advocates who want provincial help to
speed up the process.
Bruce county council gave the green
light to an aamalgamation proposal for.
Aaron Township and Tara, and another..
one; affecting. Bruce Township and
-Tiverton. In both cases, the new munici-
pality will :adopt ..the township's name
and be effective Jan. 1.
But in a move that surprised the coun-
ty's restructuring 'committee, St:
Edmund's Township, at the tip of the.
Bruce peninsula, called for the province
to appoint a restructuring;, commissioner
if there is no "concrete'' evidence. of fur
ther restructuring.
"The talks have been going on since
was on council," said St: Edmund's. reeve
Winston Hollis. "We go to meetings and • •
nothing happens." •
' "1 don't think our municipality is in a
position to •carry on ,without funding,"
Hollis said about the year-end cut-off for
provincial grants to Municipalities:
