-papers, will distribute 36 prizes to boys and girls for
the best essays on Canada. The object of thiscontest
is to stimulate interest in this wonderful country of
ours; and to help the boys and girls of today, the citi-
zens and leaders of tomorrow; to apprecThte better the.
tremendous potentialities of Canada and to get some
vision of that future greatness which fortune has
undoubtedly 'marked out for this the most important

.ucknow Co-op suffers liiavy fire lois -
Many thousands of dollars Of damage was...
done to the Lucknow District Co-operative
fertilizer warehouse and.manufacturing plant located
at the northern village limits near the raihvay, proper-
ty. Fire was discovered early Saturday morning•and
had gained considerable headway "before the
Lticknow Fire Department arrived at the scene, •

The fire had heen•bunting for sometime within the.
building„ and the fire appeared to have gained head-
way in the centre portion. of the building in the area
around the office. No cause can be determined, but it
seemed apparent that much of the fire Was in the
overhead area on the building, rather than. on the
floor area. . .
•
• The loss of the Co --op fertihzer manufacturing
facilities 'comes at a time when they were at their
peak in production, Most of the, fertilizer manufac-
tured and delivered' by the firm comes over the next
few weeks.
Exact plans for the future will be decided when
further .details on the loss can be assessed.
