Union Gas representatives will be
meeting with reeves and clerks of local
municipalities next month to. .:discuss the
feasibility of bringing the service to the
'village of Lucknow and the townships -of
West Wawanosh, Ashfield and' Kinloss.
Paul Slinger, manager of business
. development for .Union' Gasp' London
division; said new developments may
show_that"it is now economically feasible
to -service ,the area with natural'gas.
He said Union Gas looked, at the possi-
• bility of coining to the area almost two
years ago whenit-expanded into the
Wingham area, but the project was. put
off. The project' is being investigated
• ,again because of a local.supplier Who has
natural gas wells on his business property:'
If a contract between the two parties can,
be reached and if public support is
• shown, the project may go ahead.
.AWe don't want to get everyone excit- ...
'ed.At this stage we're just looking for
support from area municipalitiestocon-,
tinue investigating the possibility. There's
no guarantee it will be, economical now,
said Slinger.
Frank Varga, manager of sales and;
marketing development for. Union Gas in
Waterloo, said an "intensive review" of
the area has, been on-going: for, a year..
Support from the area. and more investi-
gation is• needed before Union Gas could .`
apply CO the Ontario Energy Board for its •
