A review of Ashfield township minutes from
February and March shows, that some residents in the
municipality have concerns with 'manure from larger
operations contaminatingwater and air quality,
On Feb, 18, about 20 ratepayers along with Scott
Tousaw, county planner, discussed manure'tnanagert
merit and the criteria for the establishment of large
intefsi.Ve livestock operations. '
Tousaw reported on the findings of the county's
Intensive Livestock Study'Advisory Committee. ,
It .was decided to contact the township solicitor for
more input and options available•to the municipality.
At a special meeting on Feb. 26, Marvin and
Hannie Scott, Lawrence ,Hogan, Francis Hogan. Fred
Philips and Brian Van Osch attended again to talk to.
council about manure management and the probable
revision of Ashfield's manure storage management
bylaw.
Once again; it was deemed advisable to contact.the
Huron County Planning Department and municipality
legal counsel for input.
The matter was discussed again at the March 4
meeting when M. Scott and Philips questioned coun-
cil about the possible updatitg• of regulations in the
manure storage bylaw. Council was then still waiting.
for further information from its lawyer and the county:

Police are still fielding
