There was a good turnout of ratepayers, in spite of
the disagreeable night, indicating a general acid keen
interest in the :matter. Theywere, specially interested
in the'possibility.of a considerable portion of thecost
being saddled on the property frontingon the street,
in the way of a frontage tax'. The Council, however,
had no intention of this, and nothing more that a 5
cent per foot frontage tax is ;proposed. This is about
.'equal to the cost of watering 'a gravel street for the
