The local swimming pool could be the
next recreation facility to receive some
tender loving *care.
Bill :Hunter, representing the Lucknow
and District Lions Club, made a -proposal
to .the joint recreation board last week.
The Lions are interested in refurbishing
the pool, but they need the help of the four
municipalities to 'bankroll the venture for
an interim firi0d.
Hunter said the club is interested in.
spearheading the project, but they don't
have the $50,000 to $60,000 in their bank
account right now to do it, He asked the
recreation board if it would be possible to
-have the project bankrolled by the munic-
ipalities, with the ,Lions, and any other
service clubs who my get involved, pay-
ing it offas their funds became available.
'Hunter presented a ball park quote of
$50,000 to install new filters, a new liner,
coping, skimmers and returns, and remove
the old deck and install a new one.
The expenditure would bring the pool
"up to good standards," said Hunter. .
Rec board .members agreed to take the
proposal back to their individual councils
for approval.
• Ifunter said by the tune the councils
look at the proposal and, if approved,
quotes .are obtained it wonld be too late to
start this spring. His recommendation was
that the work be started in September.
