Horticultural. Society met
on. Tan •,8, in the Lucknow
.town hall, for their board
meeting, with 15 present
including six new faces:
David Gibbons, from
social services in
Goderich,. explained'how
the workfare program
runs. He said that any help„
' the. Society got through
workfare: to plant • trees,
flower beds and: maintain
them would not be .a cost
to the 'Society. It. was
decided " not to , get
involved at this time.
The District .8 .annual
meeting will be held in,
Wingliatn on April 26.
The 'Lucknow
Horticultural' Society was •
successful in its bid to host
the annual, meeting in
1998 to help commemo-
rate 40' years as a char-
tered Society.
John Lamoureux spoke
on the Trillium Award sur-
vey, The homes in
Lucknow'will. all be
judged'on July 12 When air
award; will be presented to
the winner.,More .informa-.
tion will appear in the:
Sentinel at a later date. -
An award:of $2Q ,will
also be made again.to the
person, who receives the
most points in the rose
competition at the fair.
Easter lilies will be
placed in, all local church
The directors were
given names of Members
to contact to see if they
want to continue their
membership. The: Society
needs 20.0 members to

receive the grant. If any-
one is. interested in becom-
ing a member and has not
been, approached, call

Plans are underway for
planting the flower beds
and boxes in seven differ-
ent areas.The Society has
a wide range of events
planned for this year.
There is something going
on every month from.
February to November
