Santa comes to Ripley .....

Gamble of Ripley attended the Christmas
dinner and party held by the Senior Citizens
group in Wingbam. They are called "The
Homebound", Marion and Dorothy con-
tributed a few musical numbers for their
program.
Santa in Ripley
Last Saturday was Santa Claus Com-
munity day in Ripley. Dressed in his bright
red suit and standing on the rear platform of
the Ripley fire truck he made the trip down
the mainstreet and over to the Complex to
distribute treats to the boys and girls there.
In the forenoon members of the Ripley
and District Lions Club were the Santa
Clauses as they distributed gifts of
Christmas cake to the homes of senior
citizens. Lions Don MacTavish and Frank
van Kooten went from home to home here
doing the job of distributing them.
Visitors
Visiting with Del and Jewel Stanley and
family at their home on Main Street east in
Ripley are Bob and Marg. O'Donohue of
Ignace for two or three days before
Christmas.
They are coming here from his parent's
place in Hamilton. Ignace is on Highway 17
between Thunder Bay and Dryden - the
highway leading on west to Winnipeg.
Prior to going there Bob O'Donohue was
for four years a teacher at the Ripley Huron
Central School here with principal Floyd
Stanley. He is now the physical education
instructor at the Ignace School.
Del and Jewel Stanley invite all Ripley
folks, who wish to meet Bob and Marg, to
come to their home for a visit.
Members of the Ripley softball team went
to Ignace last summer to play in the annual
tournament there. Also Del and Jewel have
their summer cottage at Ignace.
On December 17, last Saturday, Mrs. Roy
MacKenzie had her family Christmas party
at the home . of Mr. and Mrs. Dave
MacKenzie and daughter Cheri Lynn. Other
members present were Dr. and Mrs. Ken J.
MacKenzie of Listowel, Mrs. (Dr.) Scott
MacKenzie, Greg and Michael of Kitchener,
Dr. and Mrs. Rod J. MacKenzie of Listowel,

Mr and Mrs. Don MacKenzie, Louise and

Dennis and Robin Wylds of Kincardine
called on Fran and Ab Wylds on Monday
evening last week.
Mrs. George (JO) McLean was able to
come home from hospital last Sunday af-
ternoon. Joy has been away in hospital for
six weeks, two in Kincardine and four in St.
Joseph's in London. Accompanying her
back was George and niece Mary Lynn
McLean the car driver. Ripley folks are glad
to welcome her back. She is presently
recovering at the home of her mother Mrs.
Redvers Johnson.
At present in Kincardine hospital are Bill
Kempton of Point Clark and Clai a Shiells
and Helen Henderson of Ripley.
Ripley folks are glad to see Dave Hen-
derson out again after being in hospital in
London.
Second year student at Western
University in London Miss Lorie Peter-
baugh is home for the Christmas vacation
with her parents Don and Ruby Peterbaugh
and sister Shirley. They drove to London
last Sunday to bring her home. They expect
son Doug to arrive this Friday from
Hamilton for the Christmas weekend.
