[Photo by Sharon Dietz] Dungannon correspondent wishes readers a merry Christmas By Marie Park Merry Christmas to all readers of the Dungannon news. Allan Reed, a former resident of Dungan- non and now residing in Port Colborne, had the misfortune to break his collar bone on November 13. Company with Bill, Marie, Todd and Brad Park on Sunday were Mike and Val Bendig and Joel and Vicki Henry, all of Goderich. Congratulations to Jim and Debra Lawlor of Auburn on the birth of their daughter on December 16 at Clinton Hospital; a sister for Andrea, a second granddaughter for Tom and Millie Lawlor and twenty first great granddaughter for Gertie Park. Anyone reading their London paper recently will have read about Rev. Karl Sievert and his misfortune at this joyous time of year. The church in Port Stanley where he is minister was broken into and several personalgifts to his children, as well as a very sentimental, to the say the least, stamp collection was taken. The thieves also broken open a metal collection box which only contained about $3.00. Karl is well known in our area by many people. Dungannon Seniors Club About 70 members and guests of the Dungannon senior citizens and area attend - 4d a turkey smorgasbord dinner at the Dungannon United Church on Wednesday, December 14. Rev. Roberts pronounced the blessing. Following dinner, the president Ted Bowers called Evelyn Errington forward and presented her with a past president's jewel. Two Australian Carols were sung by Margaret Pritchard accompanied by Roberta Linskill. Beth McConnell gave a reading, Christ- mas, which she had composed in her book, The Dreamer. A reading, Because the Church was There, was read by Mary Stewart. A pantomine, Too Many Beaus, was presented by Margaret Errington, Jack Smith, Eldon Culbert, Frank Pentland and Ted Bowers. Turn to page 11• Midgets score eleven goals in game against Tiverton By George Gibson On Tuesday, the Micgets skated to a season high eleven goal performance against Tiverton. The game was not a rout for the first period at least, as the Lucknow team continued their habit of taking a lead and then. being gentlemen. giving the opposi- tion a sportii:g chance to catch up. Two goals in about three minutes got things off to a good start but Tiverton tied the score late in the first period. in second period action. Lucknow scored three straight then traded goals to hold a 6 - 3 lead after two period. Although Lucknow scored early in the third. Tiverton fought hack with two power play goals and appeared to gain some momentum. This feeling of optimism was short lived: the forward line of Darin Lindsay. Darren McKim and Jeff Gibson flanked the red light three times in a space of 27 seconds leaving little doubt as to the outcome. The teams traded goals late in the game leaving the final score Lucknow 11, Tiverton 6. On MrndaN„ night in Ripley. the team met a chilli welcome when the home team scored three times in the first couple of minutes and skated to a 7 - 5 win. After such a bad start, the Lucknow team fought back to within a goal but they gave up a big goal late in the second period to give Ripley a two goal edge that proved to be too much to handle. in third period action, Ripley increased their lead but •Lucknow ground out three goals of their own to end the game down two. The final score marred an outstanding performance by Dan Gilchrist who scored all five Lucknow goals. The line of Chris Irwin, Grant Murray and Gilchrist not only provided the scoring punch but were not on the ice for any goals against. leaving them a very respectable + five for the night. While both games represented good team work. not many, assists appeared on the score sheet.
