Flossie Myrtle Ivens
Flossie Myrtle lvers of the Sepoy Apart-
ments, Lucknow, formerly of Dungannon,
passed away on October 12, 1983 at
Wingham and District Hospital in her 90th
year.
She was the widow of Anthony Lorne.lvers
whom she married on April 28, 1920 in a
ceremony at the bride's home, performed by
Rev. Hisey of Nile United Church. Lorne
predeceased her on November 28, 1976.
She was born in Essex County, Ontario on
April 12, 1894 and was the daughter of the
late James and Mary Ann (Mahan) Elliott.
She was the last surviving member of a
family of five brothers and five sisters.
Flossie and Lorne had no family of their
own, but in the first year of their marriage a
nephew, James E. Million. in his pre-school
years, came to live with them, after the
death of both his parents. He resided with
them until he enlisted in World War 11 in
September, 1939.
After their marriage they lived on
concession 5, West Wawanosh Township
until 1930 when they moved to Dungannon.
She became a member of the Dungannon
Anglican Church at the time of her marriage
but on it's closing in 1972 returned to the
United Church where she was an active
member of the United Church Women. She
also served on the Huron Advisory Board of
the Canadian National Institute for the Blind
for many years. She was both secretary and
president of the Dungannon Women's
Institute and also District President (1945-
1946), She was presented with Life
Membership in Feburary 1973.
She was appointed secretary -treasurer of
the Goderich Rural Telephone Company in
1941, a position she held until the sale of the
company in 1963.
In July, 1979 she moved to the Sepoy
Apartments in Lucknow where she has since
resided.
The funeral service was held Friday,
October 14, 1983 at 2 p.m. from MacKenzie
and McCreath Funeral Home in Lucknow
with Rev. George Garrett officiating.
The pallbearers were John Spivak, A. J.
Sherwood, Girvin Reed and Tom Young, all
of Dungannon and John Roulston, Jim
Houston, both of Lucknow.
The flower bearers were Garth Plunkett,
Mississauga and Lyle Jackson, Burlington.
Interment in Dungannon Cemetery,
Douglas E. Gunter
Douglas E. Gunter of Shining Tree,
Ontario, died in Stratford General Hospital
on Tuesday, October 11, 1983 at the age of
21, as a result of a motorcycle accident.
He was horn in Pembroke, Ontario on
November 25, 1961 to Mr. and Mrs, Clinton
Gunter,
He is survived by his father, Clinton and
step mother, Joyce of Shining Tree, mother,
Betty and grandmother, Grace of Sarnia,
three bothers, Robert of New Hamburg, Dan
and Richard of Shining Tree, three sisters,
Terry -Lynn of Gravenhurse, Lori and Donna
of Shining Tree,
A funeral service was held at the Tasker
Funeral Home, Blyth on October 14, 1983
with Rev, Bauman officiating. Interment
followed in the Maitland Cemetery, Goder-
ich.
Pallbearers were Gary Prouse, Clinton;
John Prouse, Goderich; Scott and Steven
Peterson, Port Huron, Michigan; Jerry
Belanger, Elmira, Paul Cockwell, Listowel,
