After the bountiful meal, the dedication of the vestry was conducted by Rev. Allison Ramsay. A special thanks was given to Harold Campbell, Leonard Mclnnes, Jack Needham and Currie Colwell for their workmanship and to Lloyd and Ann MacDougall and Marion Campbell for painting. An hour of musical. entertainment and readings were enjoyed by one and all. Congratulations to Mr, and Mrs, Denver Dickie of Keswick on the birth of their son. Mr. and Mrs. Ira Dickie went to Keswick on Sunday and visited them. Elizabeth is remaining for a few days, Mr. and Mrs. Reid Smith of Arva spent Sunday with Mr, and Mts. Jack Needham. Mr, and Mrs. Jack Needham visited at Corunna with friends and relatives this past week. Mrs. George Klages, Norman and Cheryl Anne of Dundalk visited with Mr, and Mrs. Lucknow Sentinel, Wednesday, October 26, 1983—Page 9 Ray Huchmeier. They also visited with Mr. and Mrs. Murray Henderson. Visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Dick McQuillan and Ron were Jessie Alton and Irene Hodgins, Mr. and Mrs. Harvey McQuillan of St.Catharines and Gordon McQuillan of Sarnia. (Intended for last weekj Mr. and Mrs. Ira Dickie and their family and Tammy and Robbie Wilbee enjoyed Thanksgiving dinner at the home of Mr, and Mrs. Doug Dickie of Markdale on Sunday, October 9. Weekend guests with Mr. and Mrs. Ira Dickie were Mr. and Mrs. Russell Heacock of Wiarton. A farewell party was held at the home of Mr, and Mrs. John Carter in honour of Isabelle England who moved into Lucknow. The neighbours enjoyed the evening playing games. Nice gifts were presented to Mrs. England and lunch was served, Mr. and Mrs. Bob Allen of Rockwood visited on Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Herb Buckton, Extend best wishes Congratulations to Tom and Maryse Cale on the birth of their second son Christopher George Saturday, act, 22, gest wishes come from the Grove. Mr. and Mrs. Francis Boyle, Heather and Kevin had dinner with Mr. and Mrs. John Farrell and family on Sunday. The Bible Study group met Tuesday morn - in at Betty McCloud's. June Elliott, Kay Collins, Gladys Arnold and Anne McCosh represented Purple Grove W.I. at the Bruce County W.I. Rally held in Kincardine on Thursday. Approx- imately 180 people were served dinner pro- vided by the Bernie W.I. The delegates reported as having a very enjoyable day. Don and Tiny Robertson visited with Mr. and Mr .,Morley Bushell at Wingham on Friday evening-. Catherine Scott visited with her daughter, Frances Watke of Carrick Township for a few days this week. Visitors with Morley and Deanna Scott on Friday were Jay and Betty Helm of Tiver- ton. Morley and Deanna Scott and Catherine Scott visited in the Kitchener and West Mon- trose area with Mr. and Mrs. Bill Marten and family and Mrs. Marion Marten. Jack and Janet Farrell visited with Susan and Courtney MacDonald and Janice and George Miller in London on Friday and Saturday. Friday evening they attended the Junior A hockey game between the Belleville Hulls and the Landon Knights. They also attended a dinner to "nark the opening of the new Research Centre at St. Joseph's Hospital in London. Kay Collins had visiters from Regina, Saskatchewan, Mervyn and Vi Patterson for a few days. While here they also visited with Kay's family, Gordon and Ruthe Patterson and Donald, Noreen, and Dianne MacKay. On Sunday evening. Kay Collins had supper with Margie and Dave Lochead and family. Bob and Judy Thompson, Don and Marilyn Reid and Larry Reid attended the 4- H Banquet of the Ripley 4-1-1 Clubs on Friday evening. The dinner was catered by Wilma and Cecil Sutton. On Friday evening Jim and Fran Farrell and girls visited with Dean and Diane McKee of Kincardine Township. On Sunday, they visited with Doug and Gerda Dam and family of Guelph and while there also visited with Mr. and Mrs. Thys Gruen, New Dundee, and Mr. and Mrs. Tim Reurink of Ashfield Township. Compete at cross country meet By Bamnte Henderson and Brenda Gibson On Tuesday, October 18, the school participated in the regional cross country meet. "The top people (tom the school were: midget girls. Rachel Fairbairn third; Joyce McWhinney. eighth; midget boys, Jeff Storey. second; Warren Andrew. third; Adrian Rau, fifth; junior girls. Julie Pentland, first; junior boys. Jeff Ireland. fifth: intermediate girls. Jean McWhinney first: Debbie kintoul, second: Karen Binder. fifth: intermediate boys. Kirk 1`dewhook. twelfth: senior girls. Cathy Selent, fourth: senior boys. Joey Carmichael fifteenth. The teams which received pennants were midget boys and Jean McWhinney received medal- lions for placing fourth. Junior choir ptactice started on Tuesday afternoon with Mrs. Worse! and Mrs. Young in charge. Has anyone found a balloon lately? If you do, see if there is a name and address inside it and notify that person. The week October 16 - 22 was Co-op Week and the Co-op store in Lucknow supplied balloons for all the students at Brookside. Mr. Dave Dawson, from the Lucknow Co-op brought a helium tank to school and filled the balloons after each child had put a pallet with his name and address inside it. The students took the balloons outside at 12.15 p.m. and released them all at once to sail westward on the brisk breeze, Mr. Dawson came back on Friday with balloons for kindergarten class 2. On Monday. October 17 the grade 8 class accompanied by Mr. Cameron and Mr. Jewitt went on a field trip to the Goderich Museum and to Dunlop's Tomb. Visit with friend at Union By Marie Park Jim and Margaret Errington visited with a friend of Margaret. Mrs. Klaas Darendregt at Union on Sunday. They attended church service at Port Stanley where Reverend Karl Sievert is pastor. Sympathy is extended to the families of the late Ethel (Brown) Cunningham. who died in London on Wednesday in her 85th year. Sympathy also extended to the families of Elsie Haney of Prrrecrest lvlanor. Lucknow who passed away on Thursday. October 20 in her 94sth year. Dorothy Errington is a granddaughter. Mary Dere spent the weekend in London visiting her family and attended Commence- ment at Sir Wilfrid Laurier Secondary Schaal to see her granddaughter. Karen Hernan- dez. receive her grade 13 diploma. a subject award in Physical and Health Education and a( certificate for being an Ontario Scholar. A successful Stag and Doe was held Saturday_ night for Vicki Park and Ted Nenrv.
