Mrs. Graham's grade four class did a unit
on knights and castles.
Mrs. Tebutt's grade three class did an
apple unit. Por open house they made
personal statues and parents had to find
their child's desk by identifying the statue.
Mr. Liddie's grade six class did a litter
study and a litter survey hi the playground.
Mrs. Blanchette's grade two class made
paper models of students and stone soup.
Mrs. Allen and Mrs. Young's grade one
classes made baked apples on Friday as a
follow up to their field trip to the apple
orchard,
Mrs. Carroll's class made apple muffins
on Thursday and served them to visitors to
their room at Open House,
On October 14, the school had Open
House where a special presentation was
given by Louise Wilson, Primary Co-ordin-
ator, and Carol Symons, Junior Co-ordinat-
or, on How 1 can help my child in school.
There was a presentation in the gym for all
parents and children. Mrs. Bete had a slide
presentation on her trip to Papua, New
Guinea. Mr. Jewitt mentioned a School
Resource Team Organization and Sport's
Night Organization. Tony McQuail, board
member, spoke briefly, commenting on
school programs.
The student's council provided treats for
the children and coffee for the adults.
On Friday Valerie Vanderburg,h came to
the school to give a presentation on
Ringette, a game devised for girls as an
alternative to hockey. Equipment consists of
a helmet. a sawed-off hockey stick and a
rubber ring. 1 here is no body contact and it
is played on skates like hockey.
west Huron Junior Farmers
plan banquet and dame
On Monday, October 10, the West Huron
Junior Farmers met at Brookside School at 8
p.m. The meeting opened by 23 members
singing the Junior Partner Song.
Secretary Annette Ritchie read the
minutes and Ruth Ritchie gave the treasur-
er's report.
Ruth Ritchie gave a report on entertain-
ment for the banquet and dance on Novem-
ber 26. Murray Irvin handed out tickets for
the 8th annual banquet and dance.
Members voted on the awards which will
be presented at our banquet and dance.
Most enthusiastic member, Most Active
member and Rookie of the year.
Fund raising was discussed and a draw
will be held November 26 for two nights
accommodation and spending money to the
value of $200 for Wheels Inn in Chatham.
The club donated $200 to the Lucknow
Rand to be used towards their new uniforms.
The Rose Bowl was given to Sharon Alton
and everyone else who helped with the float,
horseshoes, tug -a -war, and pole climbing
contests at the Lucknow Pall Pair.
Jim Ritchie gave the sheriff report.
Flection of officers was held for the 1984
year and they are as follows: president,
Colin Snyder; vice-president, Sharon Alton;
secretary, Anne Alton; treasurer, Annette
Ritchie; press reporter, Mary Mole; social
convener, Mike Scott; assistant social
convener, Lynn Alton; directors, Lloyd
Morrison, Audrey Ritchie, Joanne Pentland;
zone representative, Ralph Mottison.
The meeting was adjourned and games
were enjoyed by the members conducted by
Audrey Ritchie and Lynn Alton.
