Shower held for Roseanne

Janet Wilkins hosted a
baby shower on Sunday for
her sister-in-law, Janice and
John Hoffman and new baby
daughter, Roseanne of Park-
hill. Attending were the Zinn
elat ves, Janet's parents,
:van and Jean Hoffman of
Burlington, and her sister,
Florence Wagier and Keith
of Brunner.
David and Betty Kirkland
returned last week from a
three week vacation to the
western Provinces, In Alber-
ta they called on Ann and
Frank Riegling and Mr. and
Mrs. Clem Steffler at Fair-
view, and Bill Ritchie in
Calgary,
Jim and Isabel Hunter
visited over the weekend
with Jack and Wanda Miller
of Barrie, and her father,
Nan Nicholson stayed with
Don and Marion Gillespie of
Kinlough.
Kelly Sims returned to his
home in Ottawa on Friday

went major surgery last week
in Toronto East General
Hospital. Mrs. McGuire and
Brian visited with him last

HARRY RAMSAY
Last Saturday, August 13,
1983, Harry Ramsay,
formerly of the Fourth Con-
cession east in Huron
township died in the Bruce
County Hospital in Walker-
ton, Born on Sunday,
November 26, 1099, Harry
was in his 84th year. His
place of birth was Carling
township in the Parry Sound
area. He is survived by two
sisters and two brothers. He
was predeceased by his wife,
the former Margaret Hazel
Elder.
Back in the thirties, Harry
and his wife, Hazel, came to
Huron township when they
bought the John Thompson
farm on the Fourth conces-
sion east and farmed there
until their retirement. It is
now owned by Russ Scott
and farmed by his brother
Harry Scott. Visitation was
at the MacKenzie McCreath
Funeral Home in Ripley on
Sunday. The funeral service
there was at 11 a.m. on Mon-
day, August 15 with Rev.
Glen MacPherson of-
ficiating. Interment followed
in the Ripley cemetery.
Harry is remembered 1 s a
kind man and a good
neighbour by the folks on the
Fourth east and those in
Ripley who knew him.

Irene (MacDonald) Griffith
Irene Morah MacDonald
passed away in Kincardine
Hospital on July 29.
Born in Huron Township
on April 24, 1916 she was the
daughter of Donald S.
Mact)onald and Margaret
Ann MacKinnon. She
married Burton f ;. Griffith
on October .5, 194(, and they
farmcd on Or North Line of
Ki;icardine Township until
retiring in Ripley in 1979.
Mrs. Griffith was a
store clerk in Betvie and
Ripley for many years where
customers appreciated her
kindness and cheery
disposition.
Besides her husband she is
.'irviv ed by sisters. Virginia,
Mrs. Wilfred Har keit of Ash -

The funeral service was
held Aug. 1 at the
MacKenzie -McCreath
Funeral Home in Ripley with
Rev. Hugh Nugent of-
ficiating. Pallbearers were a
former neighbor, Loran
Peter, and nephews Leo
Arnold, Courtney
MacDonald, Jim Hackett,
Edward Harrison and John
D. MacKay. Flowerbearers
were Hill Johnson, Doug
Harrison, Don MacTavish,
Rod Shanks, Brian MacKay,
Colin Maclennan and Dale
Pollock.
Interment was in Ripley
Cemetery.
FLORENCE MacKENZIE
Last Thursday, August 11,
Mrs. Florence MacKenzie of
Lucknow and formerly of
Lochalsh passed away in the
Wingham and District
Hospital. She was in her 71st
year. The former Florence
Macleod, she was born on
Monday, October 7, 1912, the
eldest daughter of the late
Angus E. and Jessie
MacLeod on lot 18 conces-
sion 6 west in Huron
Township. From there she
attendedp the Ripley Public
School and the Ripley Con-
tinuation School. Then she
took the nurses training
course at the Wingham
hospital in the early 30's and
obtained her R.N. degree,
She joined the Wingham
Hospital Nursing staff and
continued there until her
retirement a few years ago.
She is survived by her
sister Mrs. Adeline Hackett
of Huron Villa in Ripley,
several nieces, nephews and
cousins. She was predeceas-
ed by her husband Donald
("Donnelly" of Lochalsh) in
1970, her brother Edward in
1953, and her sister Isabel
(Mrs. Roy MacKay) in 1982.
Visitation was last Friday
afternoon and evening in the
MacKenzie McCreath
Funeral Home in Lucknow
where the funeral service
was held at 3 p.m. on Satur-
day, August 13 with Rev,
Hugh Nugent of Ripley,
minister of Knox and
Ashfield Presbyterian Chur-
ches officiating. Interment
in the Lochalsh Cemetery
followed. Sympathy is ex-
tended to her sister Adeline
and family relatives at this
time of bereavement.
