In the three games in which they played the scores were Dryden 7, Ripley 3; Sioux Lookout 2, Ripley 7; and Ig- nace 8 Ripley 3. All the Ripley team stayed at the home of Bob and Margaret O'Donahue in Ig- nace, They were wonderful hosts. Bob took them to the best pickerel fishing places. A few years back, Bob was a teacher in the Ripley Huron Central School. The Ripley team is looking forward to going back next year. Ignace Is away in Northwestern On- tario on the railway from Thunder gay to Winnipeg. Recent visitors with Mrs. Violet MacKenzie at her home on Huron Street south in Ripley were Mr. and Mrs. Lorne R. MacKenzie, Rob Susan, and Heather of Unionville who were holiday- ing at Point Clark beach and Mr. and Mrs. Kyle Thomas, Stu and Isabelle of Hunt- sville, Alabama. +++ The Ripley Atom Soccer team played in a tournament in Seaforth winning a game and losing in the semi-finals to Goderich. They won over Listowel after regulation time on a shoot out. Goal scorers were Scott Allen 2, Leslie Bushell 2, and singles by Dennis Johnston, Trevor van Sickle, Briars Campbell and David Nicholson. +++ In Squirt soccer it was Ripley 2, Kincardine Sted- mans 0. The game was a hard fought contest with Ripley halfbacks Matt Far- rell and Ralph Grass taking charge until the forwards settled down and found their scoring touch. Darryl Bolton from Tracy Rintoul had the first goal then Deane Stanley from Sean Wolfe the second one. Scott Martyn in goal had the shut out. The return of Susan Paquette to the Ripley defence was most noticeable in thwarting the Stedman forwards. On Saturday, the 13th, the team travelled to Seaforth to take part In the Lake Huron Zone Sportsfest. The first game played against Port Elgin resulted in a 1 to 0 win for Port Elgin. The Ripley team played very well and the match could have gone either way. Standouts for Ripley were Emily Rotteau and Renee Rantoul. In the se- cond game Ripley came up against a strong Elmira side and carne out of the contest on the wrong side of a 9 to 1 score. Ripley Ousted Tiverton In softball the Ripley Pee Wee team eliminated the Tiverton team from the WOAA first round play-offs. They edged them 8 to 7 in the first game held in Ripley. Back in Tiverton on Sunday, they beat them 15 - 3. Clint Twolan pitched both games with excellent field play from his team mates. The team is hitting very well since using the pitching machine and thanks to Bob Emerson and Jeff Stanley for their excellent coaching. The Ripley boys now ad- vance to the second round aggainst the winners of the Mildmay Formosa series. These boys are also play- ing the the OASA ( all On- tario) with help from two new pitchers Bevan Flett and Tom McDonald. In the first round Ripley beat Paisley 2 games to 1. In the first game Paisley beat Ripley 11 to 6 in Paisley. Both McDonald and Flett had a go at pitching. In the second game McDonald hit a home run in the bottom of the seventh to break the 5 - 5 tie. Flett pitch- ed the whole game. Ripley went on to win the final game in Paisley 10 to 1. They are now playing Belmore in the second round of the series. The first game was played in Belmore last Friday evening. Ripley won with Robert Drazazga hit- ting a home run in the top of the eighth with two on bases. They scored two more in that inning. Flett then struck out the three batters in the bot- tom of that inning. So Ripley leads one game to none. The second game is at 8:30 tomorrow evening (Thursday) in Ripley. +++ On the Ripley Squirt Soc- cer team playing In the Seaforth Sportsfest were Ralph Grass, Deane Stanley, Darryl Bolton, Kerry Stanley, Vanessa Abella, Vanessa Life, Emily Rot- teau, Chris Hodgins, Troy Snobelen, Matthew Farrell, Scott Martyn, Jennifer Johnston, Suzanne Paquette, Tracy Rantoul, Rene Rintoul, and Sean Wolfe with coaches Tom Stevenson and Marlene Wolfe.
