President, Mrs. Agnes Farrier opened with a poem. In the absence of the sec- retary and assistant secret- ary, Mrs. Rena Fisher read the minutes and corres- pondence and gave the pre- pared financial statement. A thank you card was received from Mrs. Bill Pur - don and members were invited to attend Participa- tion Lodge. The roll was answered by an attendance of 17 telling where they met their hus- band and bringing their wedding picture. The W.I. received an invi- tation from Kairshea W.I. to meet with them Thursday evening, Lana Craig and Marlene Martin, with Agnes Farrier as pianist, sang three selec- tions. Advertising complaint forms were handed out, The motto - A moral tale, was given by Mrs. Frank Ross. The topic, Bushel for Bu- shel, was given by Mrs, John R. Currie, who told of the famine of wheat and how Neil McAlpine with 3000 bushel gave it out with the order's to bring back bushel for bushel in the fall, She had a picture to show the farmers getting their bags of wheat. McAlpine on Sunday was a Presbyterian but on week days he belonged to all religions of his fellow man. Reports were given by Mrs. Day, Family and Con- sumer Affairs; Miss Merle Wilson, Education and Cul- tural Activities; and Mrs. Rena Fisher, Resolutions. Mrs, Farrier had a bird contest, won by Mrs. Rod Lamb and Mrs. Emerson. The grandmother with the nearest birthday was Mrs. Lorne Durnin; most recent grandmother was Mrs. John Currie; and oldest grand- mother was Mrs. Gershom Johnston. Lunch was served by Mrs. Dan Tiffin, Mrs, Don Ross and Mrs. Russel Gaunt. The water line was broken last week, down by Belmores on Wednesday but was quickly repaired Wednesday evening. The ball game between Whitechurch and West Wa- wanosh on Wednesday was a victory for West Wawanosh. Visitors on the weekend with Mr, and Mrs. Fred Tiffin, Mr, and Mrs. Vic Emerson and Mrs, Gertrude Tiffin were Mrs. Marian 01 - son, Mrs, Dave Richardson, Heidi and Molly of Livonia; Mrs. Dorothy Hinkle and Jill Thomas of Plymouth, Mr, and Mrs, Eldon Em- erson, Darlene, Sharon and Brenda spent the first of the week at Midland camping and the last of the week with Mr. and Mrs. Victor Emer- son. Mrs, Campbell, Michael and Michelle of Hamilton were visitors on Thursday and Friday with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Uuldriks. This community extends their deepest sympathy to Walter Elliott, Mrs, Bill (Isobel) MacPherson and Mrs. Donald (Marjorie) Campbell, in the passing of their mother, Mrs. Agnes Elliott at Wingham Hospital on Thursday in her 88th year, The funeral was held on Sunday with interment in Wingham Cemetery, Mrs. Viola Irwin has come from Delmore to stay with Mr, and Mrs, Orland Irwin and family for a time. Mr. and Mrs. E. W. Beecroft and Karen visited Sunday with Ronald Beecroft and family of Wingham. Mr. and Mrs, Robert Sinnamon and Bradley of Bracebridge also visited at the same home. Mr. and Mrs. E. W. Beecroft visited on Saturday evening with Mr. and Mrs. John Jamieson at the Blue Barn Restaurant, Listowel. Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Tiffin, Mrs. Cassie Mowbray and Mrs. Isobel Tiffin were taken by Mrs. Hugh McMil- lan to her home at Sarnia last Tuesday, and she brought them home on Saturday. Timmy Falconer spent Fri- day night with his friend, David Pickard of the second concession. Mr, and Mrs. Paul Laid- law, Michelle and Jason of London spent the weekend with their parents and at- tended their grandmother, Mrs. Elliott's funeral. Visiting on the weekend with Mr. and Mrs, Hill Rintoul were Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Robinson, Mark, Tracy and Tim, and Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Campbell and Heather of Kitchener. They are moving to Ancaster as Mr. Campbell has been moved to the bank in Hamil- ton. Mr. and Mrs. Dan Tiffin of Wingham visited Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Tiffin. Visitors on Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Howard Long of !Merton were Mr. and Mrs. Joe Ducharme, Goder- ich; Mr. and Mrs. Tom Vannus, London; Mr. and Mrs. Cameron Simmons, London; Mr. and Mrs. Clay- ton Scholtz and Kenton, Goderich; Mr. and Mrs. Stan Norman, London; and Mr. and Mrs, Lorne Durnin, Whitechurch. Mr, and Mrs. Ron Nichol- son, Erin and Ryan of Strathroy are holidaying with her parents, Mr, and Mrs. John de Boer. On Monday Mrs. Jim de Boer, Matthew, Michael and Elicia also visit- ed at the same home. Shawn, Jason and Court- ney Rutledge of Auburn spent holidays last week with their grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. George Webster. St. Helens W.
