Junior farmers donate :1,000.00
to Lucknow fire department
The West Huron Junior
Farmers decided to donate
$1,000. to the Lucknow
District Fire Department
and to build a bleacher for
the new ball diamond in
Lucknow at their July 24
meeting held at Brookside
Public School.
The minutes of the
previous meeting were
adopted and the treasurer,
Ruth Ritchie gave her
report.
Several of the members
will be camping at Point
Farms Provincial Park,
August 5=7.
Food and decoration com-
mittees were appointed for
the annual banquet and
dance in November.
Sharon Alton is in charge
of the float to be entered in
the Lucknow Fall Fair
parade.
Joanne Pentland thanked
everyone who assisted park-
ing cars and organizing the
camping for Jamboree '83
and at the food booth at the
Lucknow Tractor Pull.
Mike Scott presented the
Rose Bowl award to Joanne
Pentland and her committee
for the job well done at the
Jamboree.
Clinton- Junior Farmers
also attended this meeting
and the clubs played a game
of baseballfollowing the
business. Following the ball
game, everyone enjoyed a
barbecue at the home of Jim
and Joanne Pentland.
Pine River teen circle enjoys reunion
Twenty one of the former
Pine River Teen Circle and
their husbands attended the
Pine River Church Services
on Sunday, July 31 to cele-
brate the sixteenth reunion
of their group over a period
of 30 years.
Mary MacDonald was the
guest soloist, and she and
Mrs. Carmen MacLeod sang
a duet in one of the anthems
with some others from the
group in the choir.
Following the church serv-
ice, Mrs. Gordon Cameron
and Mrs. Ray Walden served
a delicious dinner with
George Michie asking the
blessing. Reta Irwin thanked
the hostesses and all those
who helped with the pro-
gram. Mrs, Eldon Bradley
gave a brief resume of the
115 previous reunions, and
that only two from the group
had died, Mrs. Frank Turner
and Mrs. Douglas Brown.
Mr. and Mrs. Raynard
Ackert sang a duet, Moon-
light and Roses, and Mrs.
Bradley gave a reading, A
Tribute of Being a Small
Church. Mrs. Wm. R. Lowry
gave a humours reading,
What is a farmer?
An enjoyable sing song
was led by Mary MacDonald
accompanied by Mrs. Mac-
Leod, followed by a reading,
Words, by Mrs. Ray Collins.
Mrs. Grant MacLennan had
two interesting contests and
Mrs. Ted Wildfong gave a
reading, Life After Sixty,
which brought many laughs.
Following a brief business
period, a committee for the
1985 reunion was appointed,
Mrs. Donald Gillies; Mary
MacDonald and Jean and
Noreen MacDonald. Mrs.
George Michie expressed
thanks to the committee who
had planned this enjoyable
reunion. Mrs. Harold Pollock
and Ted Wildfong each gave
some interesting comments.
Mr. Wildfong invited every-
one down to their summer
home, Peebles, the former S.
S. # 1 school house. The
closing prayer was given by
Mrs. Grant MacLennan.
Shower Announce new arrivals
Patti Helesic
Christ Anglican Church in
Port Albert was decorated
with pink and white bells and
streamers for the recent
community shower for bride-
to-be Patti Helesic.
Donna Maize gave the
opening address and gifts
were brought in by Tanya
Maize, Jenny -Sue Brown and
Aaron Meriam.
Patti thanked the girls who
organized the shower and
everyone for the lovely gifts.
Lunch and a social hour
followed.
SIMPSON - Mr. and Mrs.
Alexander Simpson of R. 3,
Lucknow are pleased to an-
nounce the arrivalof their
daughter, Corey Lynn, 6 lbs.
14 oz., at Wingham and
District Hospital on August
4, 1983. A new granddaught-
er for Donald and Edith
Simpson of Kintail and Pete
and Doris Gladden of Cal-
gary.
BEITZ - Mr. and Mrs. Barry
Beitz of Teeswater are pleas-
ed to announce the arrival of
twins, a boy, Mark, weighing
5 lbs. 13 oz., and a girl,
Marsha, weighing 5 lbs. 1
oz., a brother and sister for
Jo -Ann, at Wingham and
District Hospital on July 29,
1983.
BALCH - Carol Finlayson
and John Balch of Toronto,
are pleased to announce the
birth of their son, Alexander
Yossariau, on July 14, 1983.
TAYLOR - To Terry and
Dianne of Kincardine. a
daughter, Angela Grace, 7
lbs. 5 oz., at the Kincardine
and District General Hospital
on Saturday, July 30th, 1983.
A sister for Rodney. Grand-
parents are Margaret Ban-
