On Tuesday night Reids Corners played in Whitechurch where they were winners. On Wednes- day evening a Belgrave team engaged the small fry with a T -ball game which ended in a tie. On Thursday evening the bigger boys played Brook- side with the score being 24 - 15 in favor of Whitechurch. The umpire for the games was Bill Gibson, On Friday Sid Paine of Stroud and Sybil Standfield of Barrie were callers on Mr. and Mrs. Fred Tiffin, Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Tiffin and Mr. and Mrs. Victor Emer- son. Olive Gillespie of Sarnia visited a few days with her sister-in-law, Agnes Farrier and other folks in the village. She attended the Gillespie - Martin picnic held at Wing - ham park on Sunday and returned home. Mr. and Mrs. Walter Moore and Mr. and Mrs. Paul Moore, Laurie and Jason spent Friday in Kit- chener. A Stag and Doe party was held at Mr. and Mrs. Jim de Boer's on Saturday night for Robert MacMillan and Barb- ara Vickers. Mr. and Mrs. Rod Lamb returned home on Friday fol- lowing a month holiday with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Lamb at Baddick, N.S., at Summer Retreat, organiz- ed by Knox College at Thousand Islands, and in Ottawa with Lorna Cormack, her mother, Mr. and Mrs. James Taylor, Jamie and Joyce, Mr. end Mrs. Ron Cormack and son, Michael and Mr. and Mrs. Jamie Lamb and daughter, Theod- ora. Ken Sinnamon of Wing - ham visited Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. E. W. Beecroft. This community extends their sympathy to Mr. and Mrs. Jim Ross and daugh- ters, Diane and Debbie in the passing of his father, Jim Ross of Brucefield on Thurs- day last. Mr. and Mrs. Relison Fal- coner of Sarnia came on Friday and took his mother, Cassie Mowbray to Port Colborne to visit for the weekend with her brother, Athol and Mrs. Purdon. Last week Mrs. Hugh McMilland of Sarnia took Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Tiffin and Isobel Tiffin to Brantford to visit with Wealtha Hend- erson of Brantford. Mr. and Mrs. Hector Pur - don of London spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Angus Falconer. Mr. and Mrs. Walter El- liott and Karen were Sunday visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Norman Stewart, Heather, Susan and Mark of Lambeth. Erin and Ryan Nicholson of Strathroy spent the week- end with their grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. John de Boer, while their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ron Nicholson attended the ball tournament at El- mira where Ron was a player. The community had a shower for Barbara Vickers on Tuesday night at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Howard Pickard. Kimberley and Amy Far- rier of Guelph are spending holidays with their grand- mother, Agnes Farrier. Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Laidlaw spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Donald Stewart of Teeswater. Kim Laidlaw spent the weekend with friend, Bonnie Henderson of Lucknow. Mr. and Mrs. Elroy Laid- law attended the Gillespie - Martin picnic on Sunday where folks were present from London, Goderich, Kin- cardine, Kinlough and Sarnia and surrounding community. Approximately 35 gathered though a picnic had not been held for a few years. Last weekend those at- tending the Powers -Caldwell wedding at Blyth United Church and reception at the community centre were Mr. and Mrs. Neil Rintoul, Mr. and Mrs. Dave Oberholtzer, Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Camp- bell, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Gustoskie, Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Robinson and Tracy who was the flower girl. Visitors with Mr, and Mrs. Carl McClenaghan and Mary McClenaghan were Mr. and Mrs. Harry Moss of Platts- ville, Eileen Parker, Exeter and Mrs, Des Roches, Lon- don. Mr. and Mrs. Neil Rintoul, Steven, Scott and Stuart left on Sunday and visited Mr. and Mrs. Bill Sproul at Kimberley and to Brace - Turn to page 19• Helen Ann Kempton, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Hill Kempton of R. R. 1, Ripley, recently graduated from the Academy School of Hairdressing In Kitchener with honours. She Is present- ly employed with the Hair Connection in Kincardine. Mr, and Mrs. Tom Mc- Donald spent a few days with Mr, and Mrs. Ron Young at their cottage at Wiarton. Nellie McKinnon of Kin- cardine, Mrs. Elmer Vance and Mrs. Bill Burt visited with Mr. and Mrs. Herb Arkell at Teeswater. Stanley Sittler of Mason, Michigan visited with his aunt, Marretta Hodgins and Darryl here. Mrs. Ted Evans and Lisa of Erin visited with Mr. and Mrs. Bert Nicholson. Delbert, Joyce, Karen, Cathy and Kevin were dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Mervyn Hedley, Walkerton. Mr. and Mrs. Kevin How- ey returned home on the weekend to Kitchener.
