They are ha�.rirtg lots of fun and if any other ladies want to come and join in the fun, they would welcome them. A bridal shower was held on Thursday evening a South Kinloss Church base • menti for Bev Pell, Kathy Howald chaired the program. Games were conducted by Nancy Ma.c'ntyre, Wilma Clarke and K?.thy Howald. Wilma Clarke played a piano solo. Bev was called to the front with her attendants, Janet Laidlaw, Faye Irwin and Sophie Beyersbergen. After opening the gifts, Bev thank- ed the ladies for coming, for the gifts and Mrs. Frank MacKenzie and Mrs. David Eadie for organizing this shower. On Saturday afternoon a bridal shower was held by the pool at the home of Mrs. Wyn Allin of Holyrood, in honour of Tracy Karnard of St. Clements. Tracy opened her gifts and thanked the ladies. Cathy MacKinnon had contest and there was lunch and punch served. On Sunday, Mr. and Mrs. David Eadie and family; Mr. and Mrs. Bill Moffat and family; Mr. and Mrs. Barry Johnstone and family; Mr. and Mrs. Ray Buchmeier and Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Mac- lntyre, all enjoyed an annual picnic at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ken Houston and girls of Pike Lake. A good time was enjoyed by all. Visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Dick McQuillin and Ron were Mrs. Harvey McQuillin, Brenda and Lindsay of St. Catharines; Mrs. Bill Duke and family of Corunna; Mrs. Hicks of Kincardine; Mr. and Mrs. John White, Talbotville and Mr. and Mrs. Doug McLeod of Vanastra. Recent visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Jack Needham were Jean Ruttan of Michi- gan and granddaughter, Stephanie Smith of Hawaii, Mr. and Mrs. Riddering, of Puerto Rico, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Needham of Corunna, Mr. and Mrs. Dave Mac- Intyre of Sarnia and Mr. Reid Smith of Arva. Legionnaires headed for playoffs The Legionnaires, play- ing their best consecutive games, defeated Chesley Texacos 10 - 8, Belmore Juniors 3 - 2 and then lost 8 - 4 to Palmerston Imperials. Legionnaires 10 Chesley 8 Designated hitter Brad Petteplace went four for four with 2 singles and 2 doubles as the Legionnaires fought back to defeat the Texacos. After letting the Texacos score five runs in the second inning to take a 5 - 2 lead, the Legionnaires came right back scoring three runs in the bottom of the second to tie the score and then score one in the third, two in the fourth, one in the fifth, and one in the sixth for their 10 runs. Pitchers Cranston and Todd allowed 10 hits, walked three and struck out seven. Legionnaires 3 - Belmore 2 Lucknow finally put back to back wins together as they won a close game over the Belmore Juniors. Legion- naire pitchers Ross Baird, Ray Cranston and Hugh Todd went three innings apiece and stymied the Bel - more offence as they only could manage four hits, four walks and were struck out seven times. The Legionnaires came from behind again as they allowed the Juniors to score one in thefirst and one in the fourth for a 2 - 0 lead. A walk to John de Bruyn was costly in the fifth as he was sacrificed to second by Brad Petteplace and then scored on a Randy Alton fly ball. Legionnaires got the tying run in the sixth and in the eighth Tom Pegg took a Dave Eadie pitch for a home run giving the Legionnaires a 3 - 2 victory. Palmerston Imperials 8 - Leglonnalres 4 The Legionnaires winning streak of two games came to an end on Sunday night as the Imperials scored an 8 - 4 victory. Imperials scored two runs in the third, one in the fifth, three in the sixth and two in the seventh for their 8 runs and allowed the Legionnaires to score three runs in the fifth and one in the eighth. Pitchers Ray Cranston and Ross Baird both pitched good innings, however as the team has experienced many times this season, errors are costly. On Sunday night the Imper- ials only got three earned runs off Cranston and Baird. Next home game is this Wednesday, August 10 at 8.30 p.m. against Wingham B.P.s. 'Legionnaires are entering the WOAA playoffs this week. The Legionnaires are up against Tavistock in the first round which is a two out of three series.
