Mr. and Mrs. Earl Elliott of Purple Grove enjoyed the company of Marretta Hodgins of Kinlough and Irene Elliott of Kin- cardine for Sunday dinner. Mr. and Mrs. John MacDonald entertained guests Friday, they were Mr. and Mrs. Mark Doll of Windsor and Gary Hall and friend, also of Windsor. Sunday guests of Mr. and Mrs. John MacDonald were Murray and Linda Kennedy of Inverhuron. Mr. and Mrs. Donald Robertson and Mr. and Mrs. Aurel Armstrong were supper guests of Mr. and Mrs. Donald McCosh, at their summer home on the tenth concession on Monday. The folks from Purple Grove all wish Rodney Sutton a speedy recovery from his operation. Mr. and Mrs. Larry Hodgins and Pearl Hodgins of Wingham visited with Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Sutton and family on Saturday night. The Bervie United Church held its Sunday School picnic on Sunday. A good time was had by all. Karen Metzger, daughter of Joseph and Katherine Metzger of R.R. 3, Lucknow graduated on Saturday, July 16 from the diploma nursing program at Fanshawe College, London. The Presbyterian W.M.S. held the July meeting on Wednesday afternoon at the home of Winnifred Percy. Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Cook of Owen Sound visited Saturday with Arthur Haldenby. Two Huron reeves vie for warden The race is on for the warden's seat in Huron County in 1984. Hullett Reeve Tom Cunn- ingham, 43, announced at the July session of Huron County Council that he will seek the position of warden at the end of the year. Earlier this term, Goderich Reeve Harry Worsell indicated he would be seeking the same posi- tion. Reeve Cunningham is ser- ving his fifth year on county council after having served the first two years as Hullett's deputy reeve. Prior to having served as deputy reeve, Mr. Cunningham served two years as a coun- cillor in his township. A beef and cash crop farmer, the Hullett reeve is currently chairman of the county's road committee. "I feel I have something to offer," said Reeve Cunn- ingham, one of the younger members of county council. The election for warden will be held in the early part of December. The last elec- tion for warden was in 1981 when the former reeve of Howick T;,wnship, Harold Robinson, ran against Goderich Township Reeve Grant Stirling.
