After a bountiful lunch, Mrs. Alex Hackett had charge of the business and round the table games. After she welcomed everyone in- cluding the family of Geoff Hackett of Sarnia, a mom- ents silence was observed in memory of William Hunter, Sarah McLellan who passed on in the last year. Jim Drennan was given a vote of thanks for supplying the barbecue, also the food committee and sports com- mittee. The first vice pres- ident Keith Hackett agreed to be present next year; Irlma Wall secretary, and the food and games committee agreed to act for another year. The winners of the cont- ests were, the most buttons on clothes, Chester Hackett; the most change in their purse, Bell Hackett; blowing up a balloon and bursting it, Lenore Bradley; the lucky spot, Emily Drennan; eating a banana and blowing up a paper bag and bursting it, Jim Drennan; guessing num- ber of beans in a jar, Jim Bradley and Tara Taylor. Lenore Bradley told the highlights of her recent trip to Russia. The children en- joyed the races and games prepared by Joan and Terry Hayes. Winners of the races were: pre-school, Lisa Osingo, Kendra Muller; 6 yrs. to 8 yrs., Tara Taylor, Lisa Hun- ter; 8 yrs. - 12 yrs., Madonna Bradley and Erin Muller; 13 - 15, Jennifer Hackett, Scott Hackett; 15 and over, Paul Hackett, Kevin Hackett; lad- ies, Heather Hackett, Bonnie Osinga; kick the slipper, Mary Hackett, Maureen Bradley; men kick the slip- per, Paul Hackett, Ray Hack- ett; sack race, ladies, Jen- nifer Hackett, Tara Taylor; sack race, men, Paul Hack- ett, Ray Hackett; 3 leg race, Jennifer Hackett and Lisa Hunter, Judy Muller and Kendra Muller; adult 3 leg race, Paul and Scott Hackett, Evelyn and Madonna Brad- ey; wheel barrow race, Evelyn and Madonna Brad- ley, Heather Hackett and Lisa Osinga. Relay races were enjoyed, also a candy scramble. After visiting for a time, the picnic drew to dose for another year.. Attend 45th annual Helm picnic Forty-two attended the 45th annual Helm picnic held at Mr. and Mrs. Jim Hunt- er's on Sunday, July 17. A basket lunch was enjoy- ed at 1.15 p.m. Mrs. Wesley Ritchie led in singing grace. President, Alma McKinnon told of her childhood years on the Hunter farm. A minute silence was observed in memory of William G. Hunt- er, Bill Helm and Sarah McLelland. The 1984 reunion will be held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Whytock, Luck - now on Sunday, July 22 at 1.15 p.m. The executive includes past president, Al- ma McKinnon; president, Allan Ritchie; assistant pres- ident, Mrs. Lloyd Whytock; secretary -treasurer, Mrs. Al- lan Ritchie; program, Olive Campbell, Mrs. Claire Van Camp, Mrs. Stuart Cloakey; sports, Mrs. Tom Helm and Mrs. Bryce Ritchie; tea com- mittee, Mrs. Vernon Hunter; family tree, Mrs. Jim Hunt- er. On behalf of the reunion, Mrs. Jim Hunter presented a small table to Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Ritchie on their recent 59th wedding anniver- sary. A program followed: Mrs. Carrie Helm gave readings; oldest lady present, Mrs. Verna Chambers; family coming the farthest, Robson family, Georgetown; closest to the picnic, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Hunter; married the longest, Mr. and Mrs. Wes- ley Ritchie; man coming the farthest, Dan Robson; long- est hair, Pauline Huizinga; boy's birthday closest to pic- nic, Doug Robson; girl's birthday closes, Martha Hui- zinga; lady with the most buttons, Mrs. Wesley Rit- chie; men wearing black shoes, Wesley Ritchie; lady with the largest family, Mrs. Jerry Huizinga, Auburn; hostess, Mrs. Jim Hunter. Winner of the games were ball throw, Janine Helm; musical chairs, Heather Rob- son; sack race, Doug Helm, Heather Robson and Pauline Huizinga (tied); broad jump, Doug Helm; clothes pins in jar, Kay Robson and Keith Van Camp; lady's kick the slipper, Mrs. Jerry Huiz- inga; men kick the slipper, David Robson. The picnic ended with a candy and peanut scramble. President Alma McKinnon donated a lovely decorated cake and served it with coffee before all departed. Visit with Trinity couple on Sunday By Bell Hackett Bill and Edna Ross of Lucknow visited with Reg and Freda Broome on Sun- day evening. Happy first birthday to Ryan Richardson on Thurs- day, July 21. Ryan's parents are Gary and Dawna Rich- ardson. Donelda Benoit of Muske- gon, Michigan has been vis- iting for five days with her cousin, Marian and Warren Zinn, and other relatives in the Lucknow area. Jessie Kirkland attended the baptismal service at Ripley Anglican Church on Sunday, for her grandson, Andrew Kenneth Kirkland. Andrew's parents are Ken and Katherine Kirkland of Milton. Donna Thompson and Amy of Red Deer, Alberta spent the last three weeks with her parents, Harvey and Betty Ritchie and family. A. Hack- ett called the meeting to order and led in prayer. Mrs. Don Hackett opened the devotions, the topic being, Mountains Out Of Molehills, and read a poem, Prejudices. The meditation was given by Mrs. Fred Phillips. Mrs. Hackett led in prayer. Mrs. Alex Hackett gave two read- ings, Strength To Conquer Little Things and A Mile and a Half From Church. Mrs. Chester Hackett led the Bible Study from Mat- thew.
