study New Hebrides
•from page 10
1 Mrs. Don Bell, using an
heap, introduced the Mission
Study on the New Hebrides.
She then showed a Film Strip
on the life and work of Mr.
and Mrs. John Geddie who in
1847 left Nova Scotia with
their two children to become
the first missionaries in the
New Hebrides.
The natives were cannibals
and the only white people
they had known were cruel
white traders so the mission-
aries were not welcomed. By
hard diligent work, learning
their language and having
the Bible printed in their
language, they completely
changed the life on the island
where they worked.
The hostess was thanked
and after the closing hymn
and prayer by Mrs. Evan
Keith, lunch was served by
hostess, Mrs. Herb Buckton
and directors, Mrs. Don Bell,
Mrs. Allan Maclntyre and
