Mrs. Vaughn was the lucky winner of the final draw. Her husband, Ernest played with the Lucknow Intermediate Hockey team in the late 40s and the Vaughns enjoyed renewing acquaintances while they were here to attend Jamboree '83. [Photo by Pat Livingston) Harrision picnic The 48th annual Harrison picnic was held at the Clinton Conservation Area on June 11. Approximately 55 people attended. Lawn bowlers enjoying successful season The first ladies tourna- ment of the season was played on the local greens on Wednesday, July 6. Winners were first, Nora Finnigan's rink from Wing - ham; second Mary Fisher and Evelyn Henderson, Lucknow; third B. Aberhart's rink from Goderich and fourth Grace Elliott and Marion MacKinnon, Luck - now. Winners at previous tour- naments were Jack and Jane Treleaven at Mitchell; Jack and Mary Fisher at God- erich; Jack MacDonald and Jack Fisher at Wingham. At the first stage Provin- cial Playdowns for trebles held at Atwood on June 11, Audrey MacDonald, Jane Treleaven and Maudie Fish- er won. These girls go on to Sarnia' on July 19 to play in the second stage of playdowns. "Good luck girls". President, Wi inifred Girvin, welcomed twelve members and two guests. Roll call was name an agricultural commodity that a province is noted for. Peg Purdon gave a reading from The Good Old Days of Aunt Edith and the Pig Treatment. Donna Snyder introduced Marian Taylor of the sixth of East Wawanosh. She gave a humorous talk of how life on the farm helps keep dairy princesses beautiful with the milk bath, soft water bath, and the mud bath, and a short history of dairy farming as it used to be. She conducted a milk quiz and gave a story on cheese and demonstrated serving cheeses with fruits for spec- ial occasions. She concluded with a display of cooking with milk, cook books and posters - "the faster life gets, the more sense milk makes". Lucky tea cups were Olive Chisholm and Marian Zinn receiving dairy shopping bags. Donna Snyder thanked the dairy princess and presented her with a gift. Pennies for friendship was a penny for every chair in your house.
