[Photo by Sharon Dietz] Lucknow Sentinel, Wednesday, July 6, 1983 -Page 5 Crown Jamboree queen Heather Stanley of R. 4, Kincardine was crowned Jamboree '83 Queen at the Lucknow District Community Centre June 30. Heather, who will also hold the title of Miss Lucknow Fall Fair was crowned by Judy Ward of Kinloss Township, Miss Lucknow Fall Fair 1982. Heather, who represented Fisherman's Cove Tent and Trailer Park in the pageant, is the daughter of Ray and Helen Stanley. Andrea Walker of Wingham, daughter of Ray and Shirley Walker, who represented Lucknow Farm Supply was first runnerup and Carol Rintoul of R. 2, Lucknow, daughter of Leroy and Lila Rintoul, rep- resenting the Lucknow Legion, was second runnerup. Also participating in the pageant were Suzanne Alton, R. 7, Lucknow, daughter of Ken and Ruth Alton, representing the Lucknow Junior Women's Institute; Anne Alton, R. 7, Lucknow, daughter of Clayton and Lois Alton, representing West Huron Junior Farmers; Judy Hunter, Lucknow, daughter of William and Mae Hunter, representing Lucknow Lions Club; Lana Sanderson, Lucknow, daughter of Doug and Barb Ross, representing C & M Transport and Annette Curran, R. 1, Dungannon, daughter of Grant and Sandy Curran, representing Button's Meat Market. Judges for the pageant were Susan Robinson, Convener of the Queen of the Fair for the Kincardine Agricultural Society; Jack Cumming, warden of Bruce County and Carolyn Pridham of Harriston, Miss CNE 1982. The pageant was organized by the Lucknow Agricultural Society which also organized the Jamboree Beard Contest which was judged prior to the Jamboree Queen Pageant. Leisa Rau is named Jamboree princess Leisa Rau of Lucknow was crowned Miss Jamboree Princess at the Lucknow Central Public School July 1 by the Jamboree '83 Queen, Heather Stanley of R. 4, Kincardine. Leisa, who represented the Lucknow Sentinel in the pageant, is the daughter of Sharon Dietz and Grant Helm of Lucknow. She is a grade 8 student at Brookside Public School. Fifteen young ladies participated in the pageant which was part of the youth activities planned for the Jamboree. Pageant co-ordinator was Joan Black of Lucknow who organized the youth activities for the Jamboree committee. Also taking part in the Princess Pageant were Kim Coughlin, Lucknow, representing Lucknow Farm Supply; Angela Foran, Lucknow, representing the Mayfair Rest- aurant; Arletta Glenn,Dungannon, representing Glenhaven Apartments; Denise Helm, Lucknow, representing Helm Welding Ltd.; Sherry Hodges, Dungannon, representing the Super Scoop; Heather Howald, Kinloss Township, representing Lucknow Cut & Curl; Michelle Johnston, Lucknow, representing Quinn's Flowers and Gifts; Julie Nicholson, Lucknow, representing Bain's Groceteria; Heather Priestap, Lucknow, representing Bully's Burger Bar; Sherry Nixon, Ashfield Township, representing Lucknow Community Sale; Donna Raynard, Ashfield Township, representing Loree's Ladies Wear; Sheri Smyth, West Wawanosh Township, representing Fairview Foods; Tracy Steer, Lucknow representing Lucknow Appliance Centre and Cindy Struthers, Lucknow representing Lucknow Variety and Dry Goods. Judges for the Princess Pageant were Dale Skillen of the Queen of the Fair committee for the Lucknow Agricultural Society; Shirley Walker, proprietor of Shirley's House of Fashion in Wingham .and Mark Forest, a teacher at F. E. Madill Secondary School in Wingham. Murray Gaunt of Wingham was master of ceremonies. While the judges were reaching their decision, area young people presented a short talent concert which included piano instrumentals by Jeff Murray and Jeff Ackert; flute instrumental by Karen Pickard; soft shoe by Becky Ackert; tap dance by Rachel and Jane Brophy and highland dancing by Sarah Brophy, Laurie Hayden and Sandra Van Osch, and a solo by Marlene Martin. A youth dance followed the pageant with music provided by a disc jockey. Leisa Rau of Lucknow, representing The Lucknow Sentinel, was crowned by the Jamboree queen, Heather Stanley. Fifteen young ladies representing Lucknow area businesses participated in the pageant which was followed by a youth dance at the school.
