Sportsmen and fans keep Sepoy Town prominent This brief chapter cannot do justice to the sportsmen and fans who through the years have kept the Sepoy Town prominently in the spotlight. Their prowess on the "athletic field" won for this community the reputa- tion of being a "great little sporting town" and "The Sepoys", as so many teams were named, always proved themselves as competitors to be reckoned with, whatever the game might be. From feats of strength, and skill of the ladies of the Archery Club of Caledonian Days, to the current success in hockey and ball, sport has always played an important role in the life of the Village. Lacrosse, the national game, flourished here before the turn of the century and in the early 1890s the town boasted a team that went undefeated for, some say, three seasons. They were followed by the brother combination of Char- Iie and Jack, while before and after them, Morley and Allan upheld the family tra- dition of being "born hockey Turn to page 17b• LUCKNOW JAMBOREE 1983 n n Make CKNXTV Channel 8 Part of Your Day Lueknow Sentinel, Wednesday, June 29, 1983—Page 16b CONORATUIATIONS TO LUCKNOW ON YOUR 125 BIRTHDAY Bluewater Agromart Ltd.
