Three generations of Andrews
in business in Lucknow
GEORGE AND MARY ELIZABETH ANDREW
Three generations of the
Andrew family have operat-
ed businesses in the village
of Lucknow. William George
Andrew operated an Interna-
tional Harvester Farm
Equipment dealership on
Lucknow's main street next
to the Silverwood's building
at the corner of Campbell
and Stauffer Streets.
George had four sons and
a daughter and to keep the
boys busy after school, he
planted an orchard just south
of the Greenhill Cemetery.
George operated his equip-
ment dealership until after
he was in his 80s, being sick
only several days before his
death.
In 1942, his son, Alex
along with Charles Webster
had purchased the Fairview
Dairy from Ewart Taylor and
after delivering milk to town
residents and pasteurizing
milk in the mornings, Alex
went to work with his father
at the shop in the afternoons.
Alex married Catherine
MacDonald of Ashfield
Township and they have a
family of four sons. Tom is
proprietor with his wife,
Hilda of Fairview Foods on
Lucknow's main street and
purchased the dairy from his
father in 1973. He delivered
milk to Lucknow homes until
1981. Allan builds log homes
and is currently building a
log house for his family in the
orchard he farms with his
father.
