During their nine days in Waikiki on Oahu, the Governor of the State of Hawaii proclaimed Hawaii/Canada Friendship Week in honour of the Massed Band's visit. A special noon hour concert was held in the lolani Palace grounds with the Royal Hawaiian Band. The Massed Band performed at the Hula Bowl football game on Saturday, January 15, 1983 and then on Monday, January 17, 1983 they did a very Special Service of Remembrance in the Punchbowl Cemetery at 10.30 a.m. with the U.S. Army 25th infantry Division Band and representatives of numerous U.S. veterans organizations. In the summer months of each year. several major parades and performances are done throughout Ontario. They also partici- pate in the Metropolitan Toronto Police Games, The Scottish World Festival parade in Toronto, The Canadian National Exhi- bition opening day parade and the annual Warrior's Day Parade at the Canadian National Exhibition, the nationally televised annual "Oktoberfest Parade” in Kitchener and the Grey Cup Parade in Toronto. This world famous Band has been receiv- ing invitations from many places around the world and cannot accept all of them. The Massed Band Council has decided to accept their many invitations to do a return tour of Scotland and so plans are now well in hand to do another "Grand Tour of Scotland" from August 16 to September 3, 1984. Anyone who is interested in going with the "Ontario Massed Legion Pipes and Drums" to Scotland in 1984, should contact The Lucknow Legion Branch for more details. The members of Lucknow Legion feel that they are providing the citizens of the community and all visitors with a real opportunity to see a band of this calibre performing in our Village. They are hoping that the parade route will be lined with spectators with a large attendance at the Drumhead Service to fully enjoy this special occasion. r JIiR )N RI) 111 HR()( k 01)1 KIN( rSfift It HR(X I (.SHRII PICK -YOUR -OWN Strawberries PLEASE BRING YOUR OWN CONTAINERS CLOSED SUNDAYS kIN',SVIEW FARMS Siegfried Poganatz 529-7059 1 Lucknow Sentinel, Wednesday, June 29, 1983—Page 15 RED CROSS BLOOD DONOR CLINIC Sponsored by Dungannon & District Klnett• Club Brookside School Thurs.
