Langside community says farewell to Youngs

On Monday evening a
Farewell Party was held at
the Whitechurch Community
Memorial Hall for Mrs.
Clifford Young and William
of Langside area, who have
moved to Teeswater. There
were two tables of cards in
play. Prizes were given for
the players. Mr. and Mrs.
Springer presented gifts to
Mrs. Young and William
from the community and they
expressed their appreciation.
A special meeting of
Whitechurch Water system,
was held on Monday, June
20 in the Presbyterian
Church Sunday School room.
The guest speaker was J.
A. (Andy) McBride from
Maitland Engineering Serv-
ices Ltd. of Wingham. The
purpose of the meeting was
to present the problems with
our village water odour and
staining. Another meeting
will be held when the current
waster analysis from the
Ministry of the Environment
is available.
Mr. and Mrs. Carl Mc-
Clenaghan visited Monday to
Wednesday with Mr. and
Mrs. Jim McIntyre of Ver-
million Lake, Northern Ont-
ario.
Calfclub discuss
competition results

The June' meeting of the
Lucknow Calf Club was held
at the home of Wray and
Wayne Forster. Twelve
members were present.
The leaders discussed the
judging competition results
and expressed congratula-
tions to Carol Rintoul who
placed second in the inter-
mediate division.
The guest speaker, Dr.
Don Hodgins of the Ripley
Veterinarian Clinic gave a
presentation of the various
diseases, the symptoms,
treatment and preventive
measures. He showed slides
of healthy and diseased
specimens.
Ken Mewhinney thanked
Dr. Hodgins and presented
him with a token of appre-
ciation.
Extend sympathy

Sympathy is extended to
Celia Aitchison and her
family on the passing of her
aunt last week.
Sympathy is also extended
to Gordon Lyons and family
on the passing of his brother,
William Lyons, of Lucknow.
Get well wishes are ex-
tended to Isabet Gaunt who
was hospitalized for a few
days last week.
Alex Lyons of Hamilton
returned home on Monday
after visiting with Mr. and
Mr,. Gordon Lyons.
Wayne Todd injured his
knee when he was kicked hs
a steer last Friday. He will he
on crutches for several
weeks.

We are pleased to report
that Faye Irwin. who had
surgery on a brokenleg at
Stratford, was able to return
home on Monday last and
can get around the house
with crutches.
Mr. and Mrs. Elgin. John-
ston of Turnberry and Mr.
and Mrs. Ken Pewtress re-
turned the first of the week
from a trip to the Fast Coast.
They visited with former
neighbours Mr. and Mrs.
Arnold Allen and Mr. and
Mrs. Brian Allen and family
of Young's Cove, New Brun-
swick. They toured New
Brunswick, Prince Edward
Island and Nova Scotia. They
learned the hest time of year
to tour is June and Sept-
ember before the students
are out.

ters which they are hoping to
sell to the village folks.
