Junior Farmer queen

Farmers met at the Lucknow
Kinsmen Clubhouse on June
13.
Business included the
treasurer's report by Ruth
Ritchie, discussion of the
club camping trip to Point
Farms August 5 - 7, work
committees for the Jamboree
parking and camping and the
Tractor Pull food booth.
Appreciation was extend-
ed to the club's represena-
tives in the King and Queen
competition, Mike Scott and
Anne Alton. Congratulations
were extended to Anne Alton
who was named Queen of the
Huron County Junior Farm-
ers.

tive year a West Huron rep-
resentative has been chosen
queen. Brenda Henderson
held the title last year.
Members were reminded
of the Bark Leadership Camp
and the ball game with the
Clinton club on. July 24 with a
barbecue to follow at the
home of Joanne and Jim
Pentland.
Guest speaker, Constable
Dave Don of the Walkerton
OPP gave a presentation on
drinking and driving. Some
of the members were chosen
to demonstrate how the Alert
Machine and Breathalizer
Machine are used to record
drivers' blood alcohol levels.
Awards were presented to
members for points they had
earned over the year.
Visit at St. Helens

Mr. and Mrs. Ron Sprague

days recently with Mr. and
Mrs. Don Taylor.
Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Todd
visited with Mr. and Mrs.
Dutch DuCharme of Wing -
ham on Saturday.
Jane and David de Boer,
children of Mr. and Mrs.
Wim de Boer, helped their
grandmother, Mrs. Symon
de Boer, celebrate her 80th
birthday on Sunday.
St. Helens U.C.W.
St. Helens U.C.W. met at
Isobel Miller's home on
Tuesday, June 14. There
were seven members and
one visitor present.
Peggy Gordon was in
charge of the worship. She
gave an interesting talk on
love, based on scripture from
I Corinthians, chapter 13.
Margaret Cameron read
an article written by Lois
Wilson entitled, For The
Oppressed.
Janet McPherson was in
charge of the business.
Mrs. Eldon Miller, assist-
ed by the hostess, served
lunch.

week. They moved there a
few years ago before Mr.
and Mrs. Large moved in
from the Sixth. Visitation
and the funeral was held in
Wingham. Some of the
Ripley people over to
Wingham for the visitation
were Harold Courtney and
neighbours Dave Henderson
and Clarence Hedley.
Ambrose Gamble
The sudden death of Am-
brose fumble just before the
noon hour last Tuesday,
June 14, 1983, was a shock to
the folks in Ripley and sur-
rounding area. During mid
morning he had taken his
usual drive in his green
pickup truck around the
village streets. At moon as
1hc' news of his death passed

remarked on the fact that

attack occurred. A nearby
neighbour, Mrs. Ada ; Herb
1''irrell noticed him col-
lapsed and came across to
alert his wife Marion and her
neighbour visitor Mrs. Marg
Ray i huller. Dr. 1,..1. Tusz
of Kincardine, his doctor,
was summoned and he pro-
nounced Ambrose dead.
George Ambrose Gamble
was born in Kinloss
Township on Sunday, July 6,
1913 and his parents were
Joseph Gamble and Sarah
Ellen White. He was just
short of 70 years by 21 days
or three weeks.
Visitation in the MacKen-
zie McCreath Funeral Home
in Ripley was held on
Wednesday afternoon and
evening. The Rosary service
at the funeral home was at
7:00 p.m. Around nine on
Wednesday evening the
parked cars reached the
high school and the line up of
folks waiting to enter the
funeral home was out on the
street sidewalk in front of
the home. The funeral ser-
vice at 11 a.m. Thursday
morning, June 16, in St. An-
thony of Padua Roman
Catholic Church in Kincar-
dine was conducted by
Father .lint Malone of Kin-
cardine followed by burial in
the family plot in Ripley

Surviving are his wife

Mrs Josephine ('ronin of
Nyth and three sorts, .John.
Allan and Wilfred all of the
Sixth Concession east in
lluron
1.ownship. ;Nis() sur-
viving are 13 grandchildren
and five great-
grandchildren. He has two
sisters surviving namely
Mrs. Verneica Garton of
Leamington and Mrs.
Evelyn Smith of Chatham.
Sympathy is extended to
all family members at this
time of bereavement. Am-
brose will be greatly missed
in Ripley.
The Port Albert Bulldogs were the winners of the A
championship at the Lucknow Kinsmen Summerfest Ball
Tournament for the second consecutive year. They defeated
the Port Albert Pirates 16 - 10. Doug Aitchison, Summerfest
treasurer, is shown presenting the trophy and cheque for $350
to coach Reg Good. Bill Westbrook was named most valuable
