The 1st Kingsbridge Company Girl Guides celebrated a first on May 25 when two of their
guides received their A11 -Round cords. From left, Nancy MacLennan, area commissioner

Lochalsh couple welcome new son

Rhetta MacLennan had
her brother and sister-in-law,
Harold and Peggy Jardine of
Harriston visit with her rec-
ently.
Congratulations to Mr.
and Mrs. Frank VanDiepen-
bee r on the recent arrival of
another grandchild.
Charles and Mayme Wilk-
ins had Ken and Louise
Weaver of Sudbury and also
George and Judy Smyth of
Auburn call on them recent-
ly.
Mrs. George (Andrea)
MacDonald and son, Michael
were on the bus trip with
some kindergarten scholars
from Brookside School to the
Zoo, near Grand Bend on
Wednesday.
D. MacLean Bell, brother-
in-law of Mrs. George (Betty)
Moncrief, formerly of Ripley
has now retired from the
Bank of Nova Scotia, May
21st, after a service with
them of 42'/2 years. He first
entered the bank in Ottawa
in 1940. He has worked in
Ontario, Quebec, Saskatche-
wan, Alberta, New Bruns-
wick and Prince Edward
Island, and has retired from
a bank in Toronto. He was in
the R. C. A. F. during World
War IL He and his wife, Jean
are now residing in Goderich
at 202 East Street. A number
of friends and relatives held
a retirement party at the
Legion Hall in Lucknow
Saturday evening in his
honour.
Mr. and Mrs. Gordon
Robb and son, Glenn were in
Hanover on Sunday to visit
with Bob, Sandra and Heath-
er Darling.
The community is very
sorry to hear that Dan Wylds
is now a patient in the
Kincardine Hospital. We do
wish Mr. Wylds a speedy
recovery and hope he will
soon be able to be home
again.
Mrs. Jim (Ruth) MacKen-
zie and her two sons, Greg -
gory and Keith, along with
other mothers and students
in kindergarten at Brookside
School, were at the Zoo near
Grand Bend on Thursday.
We understand all the
students had a wonderful
time and especially enjoyed
watching the monkeys.

Sympathy is extended to
the family of the late Howard
Culbert who died suddenly in
Lucknow on Thursday, June
9. Burial was in Dungannon
Cemetery on Saturday af-
ternoon. Besides his wife, the
former Doris Lyons, he is
survived by four daughters,
Barb; Mrs. Ron Snowdon,
Betty, Mrs. Brad Lewis,
Dorothy, Mrs. Dave Bere,
Joanne, Mrs. Wolfgang
Weber and two sons Jack
and Don. Also survived by 7
grandchildren and 2 sisters.
Sympathy is also extended
to Howard Thompson of
Goderich and formerly of W.
Wawanosh (St. Augustine)
on the death of his mother
Hannah at Huronview on
Friday, June 10. Mrs.
Thompson was the former
Hannah May Chamney and
was in her 86th year. She was
predeceased by her husband
John Robert Thompson.
