Legionnaires
defeat Belmore
Ross Baird went several
innings and hit a two run
homer in the third, as the
Lucknow Legionnaires beat
Belmore 9 - 8 last Sunday
afternoon in Belmore. The
Legionnaires rallied for six
runs in the third to take a 7 -
2 lead.
Lucknow scored one run in
the first and added one in the
fourth and eighth innings, as
Belmore used three pitchers.
Doug Stevenson went 3 for
4 at the bat getting a single,
double and triple.
Belmore was not content
with two runs in the second
as they scored two runs in
the sixth and seventh innings
before Ray Cranston came on
in relief. Belmore scored
singles in the eighth and
ninth innings.
The game broke a five
game losing streak. However
the Legionnaires lost the
services of short stop Randy
Guay for an indefinite per-
iod. Randy was cut for 30
stitches on the knee in a pick
off attempt.
Belmore defeats
Lucknow $-0
After dropping a 9 - 8
decision to the Legionnaires
Sunday, Belmore defeated
the home team 8 - 0,
Wednesday night.
Pitcher Dave Eadie hit a
home run in the ninth, and
allowed six hits as once again
the offense of Lucknow was
sporadic. Ray Cranston and
John DeBruyn led the Luck -
now team with two hits
apiece.
Ray Cranston pitched sev-
en innings with Belmore
leading 4 - 0. Doug Stev-
enson pitched the final two
innings and Belmore rallied
for four more runs in the top
of the ninth. Lucknow pit-
chers allowed 17 hits, walked
no one and. struck out two.
The Legionnaires bright
spot seems to be versatile
Randy Alton. Not only can he
play fast ball but we under-
stand and have seen he is
quite suited for soccer. ,
Next home game is June
15 at 8.30 p.m. against one of
the top teams in the Blue -
water Fastball League. Leg-
ionnaires will be hosting the
Wingham BPs. The Legion-
naires are hoping for a good
game as they tune up for the
8 -team double knockout
tournament on the weekend
of June 17 in Wingham.
