Kingsbridge CWL hear reports
Twenty-six members were
present at the Kingsbridge
Catholic Women's League
June meeting.
Minutes of the Last
meeting were adopted and
the treasurer's report was
read by Bridget Van Osch.
It was reported that two
girls of the 1st Kingsbridge
Girl Guide Company were
presented with their "All -
Round Cords" at the annual
Mother -Daughter banquet
May 25. Congratulations to
Lisa Card and Colleen Van
Osch.
Cards of thanks were read
by correspondence con-
vener. Delores Van Osch.
Bernardine Kinney
reported on her visits to the
ill and housebound. She in-
dicated that the seniors'
bingo nights are progressing
well. Also, a new clock and a
portrait of the Queen, were
donated to the church hall by
the seniors' group.
Rita Tigert reported on the
many spiritual activities
carried out by or available to
league members.
It was indicated that gifts
had been presented to the
recently married of the
parish.
Rita Howard reported that
the cancer fund drive is pro-
gressing well.
Recent Pro -Life activities
were highlighted by Clarice
Dalton. She urged members
to use the `Respect for Life'
prayer daily.
Catherine Austin reported
that cards were sent to 12
persons.
Motions were made and
carried that a monthly Mass
be offered for increase in
vocations and that Stations
of the Cross be purchased for
St. Joseph's School.
Father Ed Dentinger clos-
ed the meeting with a prayer
and a short talk.
After this meeting, a com-
bined meeting was held with
the ladies of the St.
Augustine C.W.L. Guest
speaker was Mrs. Muriel
Murphy, a member of St.
Peter's council, Goderich,
and Resolutions and Legisla-
tion Convener for the C.W.L.
Diocesan Convention held in
Windsor May 10 and 11.
Mrs. Murphy gave a very
interesting synopsis of the
convention. She emphasized
that League members have
a strong role to play in
"upholding respect for
Catholic moral values." She
indicated that the mission of
the C.W.L. is concern for the
physical and spiritual
welfare of all people.
Betty Lou Dalton thanked
the guest speaker. The
meeting closed with a plant
sale and social get-together.
Lucknow UCWmeet in June
Unit #1
The June meeting of Unit #
1 of the Lucknow U.C.W.
met at the home of, Mrs.
Eldon Bradley. Prior to the
meeting Mrs. Rice played
hymns on the piano.
Following the call to wor-
ship and the opening hymn,
Mrs. Bradley spoke of the
different ways Grace can be
so important in our lives. The
scriptures were read by Mrs.
Murray Henderson and Mrs.
Alvin Irwin. Mrs. Bradley
spoke on the meaning of
Grace and several members
had devotional readings con-
taining the "Fruits of the
Spirit", followed by prayer.
Mrs. Rice gave a topic on,
Love and Gratitude, telling of
the great need for both and
the many ways we can be
grateful and show our grati-
tude. In a recent poll taken,
the most favourite and often
used hymn was, Amazing
Grace, and all joined in
singing it. Mrs. Bradley dos-
ed this party of the meeting
with a poem, Just for Today.
The members answered
the roil call with a scripture
verse on Grace. Three June
birthdays added to the birth-
day fund. Happy Birthday
was sung and Happy Anni-
versary was sung as Mr. and
Mrs. Alvin Irwin will soon
celebrate their 50th wedding
anniversary.
Mrs. Eldon Henderson
gave a report of her visitation
and Mrs. Rice read an inter-
esting article on the purpose
of Stewardship, and a poem,
It's You. A social time was
enjoyed as the committee
served lunch.
Unit # 2
On Tuesday, June 7 nine-
teen members of Unit 2,
Lucknow U.C.W. met at the
church and then travelled to
Lurgan Beach Park. The
ladies enjoyed a pot luck
picnic. The day was sunny
and warm, making for a very
enjoyable time.
After dinner Mrs. MacGil-
Ivray opened the meeting
with a poem, Let Us Smile.
Mrs. MacGillivray led in
prayer. The minutes were
read t.nd the roll call, An
early Sunday School mem-
ory, was well responded to.
The various committees
reported and the general
ieeting June 13 with Carroll
McKim as speaker was an-
nounced. Mrs. Ackert and
Mrs. Clark offered to help
plan for the luncheon after
the church service July 3.
Mrs. Donna Clark presid-
ed for the devotions and
opened with worthwhile
thoughts, Forever the Same.
Mrs. G. Morrison took as the
meditation, The Letter Barrel
and Mrs. W. Drennan read
the scriptures. Mrs. William
Bolt and Mrs. G. Morrison
had short readings. Mrs. D.
Clark led in prayer.
The committee had pre-
pared two bible quizzes and
after an enjoyable scavenger.

home along the lake by
beautiful cottage country.
Unit # 3
Mrs. Ross Shiells welcom-
ed the members of Lucknow
United Church Women Unit
3, for their meeting in the
church parlour on June 7.
The roll call was a Bible
verse on the Glory of God.
Mrs. Glen Walden took the
worship service and topic.
Mrs. John Kilpatrick read
Psalm 19 and Mrs. Charles
MacDonald gave the medita-
tion stressing the beauty of
nature.
Mrs. Walden remarked
the Glory of God brought to
mind the church itself and
the symbols used. She took
the group on an imaginary
