Hospital representative reports to W. Wawanosh council
West Wawanosh Town-
ship Council met in regular
session on Tuesday evening,
June 7, in the Municipal_
Office, with all members in
attendance and Reeve Ait-
chison presiding.
The minutes of the two
May sessions were adopted
as printed on motion of
Councillors Hickey and
Todd.
Mrs. Annie Gaunt, the re-
presentative of West Wawa -
nosh and Ashfield Township
on the Wingham and District
Hospital Board of Governors,
attended the meeting and
reported on activities at the
Hospital. The Hospital is in
the best financial state it has
seen for many years. The
new addition to the Hospital
is expected to be funded by
the Province and donations
from industry - it is not the
intention to request funds
from supporting municipalit-
ies.
The following residents of
West Wawanosh were tenta-
tively named to form the
West Wawanosh Recreation
and Parks Committee, along
with the two Council memb-
ers on the committee, Coun-
cillors Hickey 'and Brindley:
Arlene Turner, Lorraine Bro-
phy, Allan Webster, Jim
Nivins, and Tom Pegg.
Wayne Newhook of Dun-
gannon complained to Coun-
cil in regard to restrictions
being placed on the location
and description of a new
building to replace the burn-
ed barn. A majority of Coun-
cil members agreed to meet
with Newhook at the site the
following day.
On a motion by Councillors
Todd and Brindley the Build-
ing Inspector was authorized
to issue Building Permits to
Huron elementary teachers
ratify their contract...

$36,419 with the average
principal's salary at $44,819.
There are about 360 elemen-
tary school teachers in
Huron County.
Special allowances under
the collective agreement
also increased by five per-
cent. These allowances are
paid over and above the
salary grid. Principals
receive an allowance of
$8,400 up from $8,000 in 1982;
vice -principals' allowance
ranges from $3,360 to $4,095,
up from a range of $3,200 to
$3,900 in 1982; co-ordinators
receive an allowance of
$4,620, up from $4,400 last
year and principals of
trainable mentally retarded
schools receive an allowance
of $4,820, increased from
$4,590 in 1982.
Other allowances are as
follows with previous year's
allowance in brackets:
Special education teachers
receive $105 ($100) for an
• elementary certificate, $315
($300) for an intermediate
certificate, and $525 ($500,for
a specialist's or supervisor's
certificate.
Resource teachers receive
$525 ($500)for an elementary
certificate, $735 ($700) for an
intermediate certificate,
$945 (900) for a specialist's
or supervisor's certificate.
Extra degree allowances
stayed the same at $300 for a
bachelor's degree and $800
for a master's degree.
The total cost of the collec-
tive agreement, including f r-
inge benefits is $12,820,981,
up from $12,226,360 in 1982,
representing a 4.8 percent
overall increase.
The housekeeping changes
include establishing a com-
mittee to review the staffing
of elementary schools on an
annual basis and having the
staff improvement plan
under the direction of the
staff improvement plan
committee.

Brindley and Todd, That the
Township of West Wawa -
nosh hereby approves the
application for a building
permit submitted by W.
Mewhook to erect a work-
shop only in Dungannon,
subject to further approval
by the Building Inspector
and Council.
A couple of drainage pro-
jects which are in the offing
were discussed. An owner on
the Gaunt Municipal Drain
has requested a clean out
and the services of a hi -hoe
will be required. The Clerk
was directed to request Mait-
land Engineering Services
Limited to undertake the
Survey and Preparation of a
Plan and Profile for the
drainage project on the St.
Helens Creek.
Motion by Councillors
Brindley and Todd, That
West Wawanosh Township
hereby accepts the quotation
submitted by Goderich Ply-
mouth Chrysler Ltd. to sup-
ply a Dodge 1/2 ton truck for a
total cost of $9,177.76.
Roadside weed spraying
was discussed and it was
agreed that the Road Super-
intendent should carry out
weed spraying in the south
end of the Township.
Road accounts in the am-
ount of $46,794.38 were ord-
ered paid on motion of
Councillors Hickey and Bay-
nard.

cil hereby gives third and
final reading to By -Law #
12-83, which restricts the
