Marshall Hospital on Sunday
and found him better than
first reported.
Marilyn Stewart of Sarnia
was home last week and was
on staff at the Ripley bank. A
few months ago Marilyn was
transferred from Ripley to
Sarnia.
John D and Joan MacKay
are back to Ripley from their
recent visit to Germany.
Roy Jackson of Detroit is
back to his home in Ripley
for a summer visit. Roy was
our classmate back in the
twenties at the Ripley Con-
tinuation School.
Margaret Scott visited
with Beulah and D.A. McIn-
tosh in St. Thomas. Then
they drove to Oxford,
Michigan to visit with their
sister Kathleen ( McIntosh)
Nestor for the Victoria holi-
day weekend. On Sunday,
May 22 they attended Im-
manuel Congregational
United Church of Christ in
Oxford for a Remembrance
and Dedication service to
those who dedicated
memorial gifts.
One of these gifts was to
the memory of Metro
Nestor, deceased husband of
Kathleen, who had dedicat-
ed money towards a new
belfrey. The senior choir and
Bell choir were very en-
joyable. Beulah and D.A.
McIntosh and Margaret
Scott returned to St. Thomas
on Monday. D.A. MacIntosh
drove his sister Margaret
home to Ripley on Tuesday,
May 24.
Last Thursday, Mr. and
Mrs. Wm. Collins of the
Lakeshore Road and Mary -
(John A. McDonald,
Florence Kirkpatrick, Violet
MacKenzie and Margaret
Scott all of Ripley attended
the sprint; rally of the Senior
Citizens in Formosa Com-
munity Centre. There were
both morning and afternoon
sessions.
Un Wednesday evening,
president Bill Collins of the
Happy Hearts held the May
film show in the Ripley High
School library. The feature
film on Dublin was enjoyed
by the good sized atten-
dance.
Mr. and Mrs. Frank Gem-
mell of Brampton visited his
parents, Francis and
Margaret Gemmell in
Ripley for the Victoria holi-
day weekend.
Jerry Huber, his
neighbour Don MacTavish of
Ripley and his brother Sim
Huber of Lurgan village at
the foot of the Fourth Con-
cession arrived back home
last Wednesday from their
annual Victoria holiday
fishing trip to Northern On-
tario.
MARY POLLOCK
Mrs. Mary Pollock, wife of
the late Elwyn Pollock, died
on Sunday, May 22, 1983, in
the Kincardine and District
Hospital. The former Mary
Park, she was born in
Elderslie Township on Tues-
day, July 31, 1906. Before her
marriage and coming to
Ripley she had been a
telephone operator first at
Chesley and then at Port
Elgin. Following the death of
her husband Elwyn in
November 1979, she lived
alone in the farm home north
of Ripley Cemetery up till
last June when she moved to
Huron Villa in Ripley. She is
survived by her two nieces
Mrs. Frances (Murray)
Shelton of Huron Township
and Mrs. Aileen MacKinnon
of Kincardine Township. She
was predeceased by her.
parents and her three
sisters. On Monday evening,
May 23 the Hill Top Rebekah
Lodge of Bervie held a
memorial service at the
MacKenzie McCreath
Funeral Home in Ripley.
The funeral service was con-
ducted by Rev. Glen Mac-
pherson last Tuesday after-
noon, May 24 at the MacKen-
zie McCreath • Horne iri
Ripley followed by inter-
ment in the family plot in
Ripley cemetery.

William George Hunter
William George Hunter
passed away in Wingham
and District Hospital on
Monday, May 16, 1983 in his
72nd year.
Bill farmed in Ashfield
Township until 1071 when he
moved to Lucknow, where he
drove a school bus for several
years. While farming, Bill
was involved in the Ashfield
Federation of Agriculture
and the Lucknow District
Co-operative.
Bill was a member of Zion
School Board; chairman of
Ashfield District School
Board; a member of Lucknow
High School Board, continu-
ing to serve as a member of
Wingham and District High
School Board when Lucknow
High School closed. In this
capacity he assisted .in ad-
ministering the Alexander
MacKenzie Endowment
Fund for Lucknow students.
Bill was a former member
of Zion United Church,
where he served on the board
and as Sunday School Super-
intendent for many years.
After moving to Lucknow, he
became a member of Luck -
now United Church, also
serving on the board there.
He was particularly interest-
ed in the Senior Citizens'
Club where he served as
treasurer until his illness.
He is survived by his wife,
Beryl, the former Beryl Gar-
dner of Zion; daughter, Mar-
lene Keane of Newmarket;
son, Larry of Pefferlaw:
grandchildren, Arlene and
Brian Keane, Neil Scarlett
and Laura Hunter and one
sister, Elleda Laidlaw.
He was predeceased by his
parents, George and Jenny
Hunter and one sister, Win-
nifred.
The funeral service was
held Thursday, May 19, 1983
at the MacKenzie and Mc-
Creath Funeral Horne, with
interment in Greenhill Cem-
etery. Rev. Warren McDoug-
all officiated.
Pallbearers were Jim Hun-
ter, Charles Webster. Alex
Hackett, Vernon Hunter, El-
don Bradley and Ken Laid-
law,
Flower bearers were Wil-
liam Ross, David Kirkland,
Allan MacDonald, Wilfred
Hackett and Art Freeman.
