Burn mortgage at Kinlough church

On Sunday, May 22 special
services were held in the
Kinlough Pentecostal
Church. A former pastor,
Reverend Gilbert Van Slig-
tenhorst who was the guest
speaker in the morning,
assisted by the resident
pastor, Reverend M. Christ-
ensen, the architect of the
church, Robert Foreman and
the deacons, Walter Breck-
les, William Haldenby, Wil-
liam Stam, Douglas Dahmer,
Peter Scheurwater and Gor-
don MacDonald did a cere-
monial burning of the mort-
gage on the church. This was
followed by an anniversary
luncheon by the church lad-
ies and a time of fellowship.
Another former pastor, Rev-
erend L. Thirsk was the
evening speaker. It was in-
deed a joyous day.
Marretta Hodgins was a
guest at the Stafford-Jacklin
wedding at Molesworth on
Saturday evening. The bride
is a great niece. Mr. and
Mrs. Leonard Stanley and
Mr. and Mrs. Ray Stanley
were also guests.
Reverend and Mr. L.
Thirsk of Komoka, Murdeen,
MacLeod and a friend, Mar-
jorie of Wingham, spent
Sunday with Maretta Hod-
gins and her grandson, Dar-
ryl Hodgins.
Sympathy is extended to
Mrs. Grant Eckenswiller in
the death of her mother,
Mrs. Albert Valad, whose
funeral was at St. Anne's
Ronan Catholic Church, Riv-
ersdale on Saturday morn-
ing.

and neighbours at the Pente-
costal fellowship room on
Sunday afternoon at an Open
House in honour of their
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wil -
ham E. Haldenby's 60th
wedding anniversary.

Baptism service at Lucknow United
On Sunday, May 29, the
Sacrament of Infant Baptism
was celebrated at Lucknow
United Church. The follow-
ing children were baptized:
Mary Joan Catherine And-
rew, daughter of Allan and
Linda Andrew; Danielle
Maxine Brooks, daughter of
Donald and Janet Brooks;
Michael Louis Mali, son of
Jack and Doreen Mali; and
Sarah Aileen Mann, daught-
er of Stephen and Lynne
Mann.
Seven adults were receiv-
ed into church membership
through Transfer of Certifi-
cate: Greg and Wilma Blake,
from Trinity United Church,
Ashfield; Donna Clark, from
Fraser Presbyterian Church,
Tottenham; Lynne Mann,
from Dungannon United
Church; and Bob, Isobel and
Lynn Shepherd, from First
United Church, Fort McMur-
ray, Alberta.

Family Fun Night. The even-
ing began with a pot luck
supper in the Fellowship
Room and was followed by a
program based on the theme
`Jamboree '83.
The program consisted of a
play by the U.C.W. called
"The Party Line", a CGIT
history and fashion show,
several Scottish songs by the
Senior Choir with a Scottish
poem by Isobel Shepherd,

Married 60 years
William E. and Margaret
Haldenby were married 60
years on May 23, 1983.
Celebrations were held at
Kinlough Pentecostal Church
on Sunday, May 29, with a
special anniversary service
followed by a lunch for the
congregation in the Fellow-
ship Room.
An open house was held in
the afternoon for 'Mr. and
Mrs. Haldenby to greet
neighbours and friends from
the community.
An open house was held in
Harriston on May 21 with
members of the Haldenby
and Becking families cele-
brating with the immediate
family.
William E. Haldenby mar-
ried Margaret Becking on
May 23, 1923, in the Presby-
terian Church in Teeswater
with the bride's sister, Kate
Becking Thompson, and
brother, Hugh Becking, in
attendance. A wedding din-
ner and reception followed at
the home of the bride's
parents at Front View Farm
on concession 10, Culross
Township.
Mr. and Mrs. Haldenby
have a family of two, Ralph
and his wife, Loreen of
Guelph, and Florence and
her husband, Norman Fry of
Harriston.
