hosts thankoffering
The Easter Thankoffering
of the Evening Auxiliary of
the Lucknow Presbyterian
Church W.M.S. was held on
April 19. The Afternoon
W.M.S. joined the ladies.
Mrs. Frank Hawthorne
opened the meeting by wel-
coming the members and
guests and reading a poem
entitled, Thanks.
Mrs. Leonard MacDonald
read the scripture and gave a
meditation, The Sins of Small
People. Jealousy and envy
are sins committed by small
minded people,
Mrs. Edward Brown sang
two beautiful solos, The
Cross Upon Which Jesus
Died, and, His Robe.
The group has been invit-
ed to attend the meeting of
the Maitland Presbyterial
Society at Knox Presbyterian
Church, Teeswater, on May
9 and a noon luncheon on
June 1, to celebrate the 75th.
anniversary of their own
W.M.S.
Mrs. William Henderson
introduced the speaker, Mrs.
R. D. MacDonald, Kincar-
dine. Mrs. MacDonald spoke
of Christ's appearances, af-
ter the Resurrection.
Mrs. Hawthorne thanked
all those who had taken part
in this inspiring program.
While a delicious Lunch
was being prepared, Mrs.
Henderson conducted a quiz,

Auxiliary holds
rummage sale
The auxiliary to Wingham
and District Hospital netted
$1,998.29 in revenue from
their April 15 rummage sale.
April showers didn't dampen
the enthusiasm of the crowd
which came from surround-
ing communities to the
Wingham Armouries.
As always, the sale featur-
ed a wide variety of articles.
New and used goods, includ-
ing clothing for men, women
and children were available
as was an interesting assort-
ment of china. Furniture and
shoes were two of the better
sellers, as were books and
toys for the youngsters.
Auxiliary members report-
ed that $403.75 worth of
ladies' clothing was sold
along with $174.50 in miscel-
laneous ladies' items. Other
figures were: $298.08, men's
clothing and miscellaneous
goods; $195.80, shoes;
$93.45, hats and purses;
$67.87, books and toys;
$272.18, china; $241.20,
draperies and bedding;
$25.00, furniture; $204.88,
children's clothing; and,
$21.58 in donations.
The auxiliary members
appreciate the many volun-
teers and those who assisted
or donated.

Mrs, Bruce Millar of Palm-
erston was v ith her mother,
Rhetta MacLennan, on the
weekend.
The Wilkins family was at
the home of Larry Wilkins on
Sunday to celebrate hoth
Larry's and Jack's birthdays.
Jack and Marion Smith of
Dungannon visited the other
evening with Wellington and
Kai. Webster.
Bill and ,Lean Farrish ac-
companied George and Betty
Moncrief to Aylmer to visit
with Dr. Russell and Lesley
Moncrief.
Mayme Wilkins has her
second greenhouse construc-
ted now and she is well on
the way to filling them both
with small plants for ' the
gardens and flower beds.
Eugene Blue of Detroit
was up on the weekend at
Finlay MacDonald's. Margie
MacDonald returned home
with him, after spending
about a month in the United
States visiting relatives and
friends. Mr. Blue was in
Goderich to visit with his
father, Mr. .Jack Blue, a
resident at the Maitland
Manor, on the occasion of his
birthday.

with Mrs. Elsie Irvin on the
weekend.
Val Bendig was a patient
in Goderich hospital these
past days following surgery
last Friday. Marie Park has
been at the Bendig home.

home on Monday from Wing -
ham and District Hospital
following a heart attack suf-
fered nine days ago.

Kincttes held their annual
nominating meeting at the
home of Marilyn Stothers at
the Nile. Nominations were
made for next year's execu-
tive. Following the business
