Dungannon seniors host successful euchre party

There were 11 tables of
cards at the Dungannon Sen-
iors euchre party on Wed-
nesday evening. High man
was George, Errington. The
two ladies who shared the
high card score were Helen
Stothers and Margaret Er-
rington. Low scores were Ted
Bowers for men and Cora
Sherwood for the women.
Prizes were maple syrup
donated by Frank Pentland.
Gord Schultz is a patient in
Wingham Hospital as a
result of a heart attack
suffered Friday night at
home. His many friends wish
him a speedy recovery.
The large barn and milking
parlor on the farm of J. C.
and Emily Drennan on the
6th of Ashfield was destroy-
ed by tire on Sunday morn-
ing. Destroyed in the fire
were ten calves but fortun-
ately the milking herd was
saved.
Elsie Irvin and Nora Saun-
ders attended the Presbytery
convention held in Sault Ste.
Marie this past two days.
The many friends of Eve-
lyn Smith of Chatham in this
area will be glad to know she
is home from hospital and
improving steadily. Her sist-
er is staying at her home with
her.
Florence Berry has return-
ed to her home following a
sixteen day stay in University
Hospital in London. Betty
Sproul is also a patient in
University Hospital on the
fourth floor.
Dungannon United Church
A Service of Dedication
was held at Dungannon Unit-
ed Church on Sunday during
which the organist, Jean
Elliott, presented an organ
hymn book in memory of
Annette Dickson Kerr, who
was a faithful member of
Nile - Dungannon choir.
Rev. Roberts led in the
prayer of dedication.
Rev. Roberts preached his
sermon on the story of Shad-
rach, Meshach and Abed-
nego from the book of Dan-
iel, emphasizing their faith in
God. The children's story
was about sharing, how we
can all share love.
The choir sang two an-
thems, In the Garden, and,
Sweet Hour of Prayer.

The Dungannon U.C.W.
held their April meeting at
the home of Donna Alton
with nine ladies responding
to the roll call, An Easter
Thought.
The devotional was taken
by Helen Dawson, who read
two articles, Not All Bargains
are Bargains, and, Self Dedi-
cation is Contagious. Nora
Saunders gave a reading, A
Talk from a Tulip. Donna
Young read a humorous
poem, Storytime.
The president, Nora Saun-
ders, took the chair for the
business which included
minutes read by secretary,
Donna Alton and the treasur-
er' 5 report by Helen Dawson.
Correspondence included
letters from Alcohol and
Drug Concerns and Camp
Bimini.
Bessie McNee gave the
feature for which she told
two Easter legends, The
Legend of the Robin and The
Legend of the Dogwood
Tree.
Tinie Logtenberg informed
the ladies that choir collars
have all been laundered and
repaired and she mentioned
the possibility of getting
second hand choir gowns to
replace the old ones at a
future date.
Lunch was served by Don-
na Atlon and Doris Hodges
and a social time enjoyed.

resumed their meetings with
a discussion of their skit for
achievement day and the
agenda for meetings six and
seven from the members'
pamphlet.
The girls plhayed Guess
Time and the winner, Jean
McWhinney received a choc-
olate Easter bunny. Angela
and Arletta Glenn won the
game, Roulette Review and
shared the prize of an Easter
bunny.

don of London spent the
weekend with his sister,
Cassie Mowbray.
Mr. and Mrs. Steve Irwin
and Cody of Lucknow visited
on Saturday with her par-
ents, Mr. and Mrs. Wallace
Milligan and his parents,
Mr. and Mrs. Orland Irwin.
Whitechurch W.I.
The annual meeting of
Whitechurch Women's Insti-
tute was held on April 12
with a pot luck dinner at 12
noon prepared by Mrs. John-
son Conn, Mrs. Elgin John-
son and Miss Merle Wilson.
The president, Agnes Far-
rier welcomed all and opened
the meeting. The minutes
were read by secretary -treas-
urer, Mrs. Russel McGuire.
The correspondence included
many thanks from those re-
ceiving fruit boxes, informa-
tion on a resolution re: paper
bags for potatoes, and 4-11
club achievement days.
The roll call was answered
by payment of fees and
giving the name of both
grandmothers.
Miss Merle Wilson gave
the report of the annual
meeting March 22 at Kincar-
dine.
The standing committee
conveners gave their reports.
Mrs. Alan Falconer gave the
current events.
The minutes of the 1982
annual meeting were head by
the secretary, Mrs, McGuire.
Mrs. Rena Fisher installed
the officers; president, Ag-
nes Farrier; first vice, Mrs.
