The Lucknow Sentinel, 1983-04-13, Page 11community news WMS choose Easter theme for program The April meeting of the Lucknow Presbyterian W.M.S. was held April 6, at Mrs. Crowston's home with a good .attendance. Mrs. Jam- es Little presided. Easter scripture passages were read by Mrs. Wallace Wilson, Mrs. Austin Loree, Mrs. Jim Aitchison and Mrs. Ross Cumming and were interspersed with Easter hymns. Mrs. Noble Johnston gave several lovely Easter read- ings. Mrs. William Henderson gave the Easter message em- phasizing the Joy of the Resurrection of Jesus Christ. Mrs. Morgan Henderson gave an interesting review of the Glad Tidings. Mrs. Robert McDonald gave the offertory prayer. Plans for the society's 100th anniversary to be held early in June were discussed. The bale allocation was met. Trinity church holds spring thankoffering By Bell Hackett Lloyd Saunders of Dutton visited on Saturday, with his sister, Freda and Reg Broome. Congratulations to Bill and Dora Van Dyke, who are celebrating their 25th wed- ding anniversary this week- end. Thankoffering The Trinity Spring Thank - offering was held at the church on Sunday evening with a very good attendance. Ruth Alton welcomed ev- eryone. Shirley Irwin read the scripture and prayer and Anne Andrew read the medi- tation. Margaret Robinson of Clinton was the guest speak- er and she showed slides and told about her four month stay in Indonesia. Gerry McCann sang a solo and Betty and Arthur Scott sang a duet accompanied by Mary Lou Raynard. Enjoy potluck supper at St. Helens hall By Kathryn Todd Several people enjoyed the pot luck supper held Monday evening at the St. Helen's Women's Institute Hall. Fol- lowing the delicious meal, about five tables of card players remained for games of euchre and shoot. Helen Todd and Isobel Miller attended graduation ceremonies for their nephew, Larry Miller. Mr. Miller re- ceived his law degree in London on Monday. Isabel Gaunt returned home from hospital after a stay of several weeks. Get well wishes are extended to her.
