Returns from Florida vacation

John Rutherrfford returned
home last week after spen-
ding three months of rest
and relaxation in Florida.
Helen and Angus Mac-
Donald celebrated their 40th
Anniversary, along with
Dave and Isabel MacDonald
of Wingham who were
celebrating their 35th An-
niversary.'The family hosted
the occasion which was held
at the Lucknow Community
Centre,
Mr. and Mrs. Gordon
Millar and family of Kit-
chener visited on the
weekend with Mr. and Mrs.
Angus MacDonald.
Mr, and Mrs. Gordon Hunt
and family spent the
weekend with Mr. and Mrs.
Allan Cranston.
Mr, and Mrs. Jeff Coskill
and David visited with Mr.
and Mrs. Gordon Lyons on
Good Friday.
Mr, and Mrs. Don Taylor
and family attended the 25th
Wedding Anniversary
celebrations of Mr. and Mrs.
Murray Taylor of Wingham.
Gordon Miller visited with
Helen Todd and Isobel Miller
on the weekend,

Elaine Errington was
treated for a serious cut to
her finger. The incident oc-
curred while preparations
were being made for the
MacDonald Anniversary.
The weather remained
cool but good for the auction
sale of farm machinery held
at Bill MacPherson's on
Monday. A large crowd at-
tended the sale, Following
the sale, birthday greetings
were extended to Brian Rin-
toul who was auctioneer at
the sale.
Chiefs defeat Flyers in championship
The bragging rights of the
Industrial Hockey League
trophy will remain with the
Lucknow Chiefs for another
year.
After tailing 1-0 and 2-1 in
games to the Kintail Flyers,
the Chiefs fought back with
6-4 and 7-4 victories to take
the final series by three
games to two,
Attend
tournament
The Lucknow Kinsmen
Club and friends par-
ticipated in the annual
Durham Broomball Tour-
nament on March 23, This
year's entry was successful
in bringing home the
Championship Trophy.
The Kinsmen appreciate
the skaters and sponsors
who were involved in the
annual Kinsmen Skate-a-
thon which was held on
March 21. Skaters are
reminded that their pledges
are to be turned in to Rod
McDonagh by April 8. Prize
winners for the most pledges
will be announced at that
time,
The season came right
down to the final period of
the last game. Kintail took a
3-2 lead into the third period,
but Lucknow rallied for five
goals in the last 15 minutes,
Both teams should be com-
mended for their sportsman-
ship and excellent play
throughout the series.
In winning both the league
championship and the
playoffs, the Chiefs have
repeated their triumphs of
the 1981-82 season. This
marks the second con-
secutive year that Kintail
has won the consolation
trophy. The Holyrood But-
chers, Ripley Roosters and
Port Albert Pirates round
out the five team league,
Fleas end season
with win and tie
The Lucknow junior and
senior Fleas combined to
win their last game of the
season on Saturday, March
25.
The first game against
Ripley was won with a score
of 11-1, Matthew Drennan
opened the scoring for
Lucknow and the following
goal scorers were Dan Kerr
with Clint Murray assisting
and Doug Helm and Matt
Drennan assisting. The four-
th, fifth and sixth goals were
scored by Brad Rhody with
Vince Sticklend assisting,
Vince Sticklend with Steven
Porter assisting and Steven
Porter with Vince Sticklend
assisting. The last two goals
were scored by Clint Murray
unassisted and Clint Murray
with Steven Adams
assisting.
The final game for the
senior Fleas resulted in a tie
against Ripley. Scoring for
Lucknow was Chris Steven-
son. It was a good way to end
the season.
