Grandson writes about Anne Magoffin
Editor's note: The following
article was prepared by the
husband of Anne Magoffin's
granddaughter, Linda: Dave
Stephens. it provides an
intersting update on a former
Lucknow resident.
Anne Magoffin,
Still Active and Weil
Mrs. Annie Magoffin,
formerly of Outram Street,
Lucknow, is the widow of the
late Thomas (Tom) Magoffin
(1977).
Since 1979 when she suf-
fered a stroke and was
advised not to remain alone
at home, she has taken up
residence seasonally with her
daughters, Bonnie Gray,
London and Lorene Irwin, in
Oshawa. Visiting family is a
favourite past time of Mrs.
Magoffin and she spreads
herself among four children,
16 grandchildren, and about
23 great grandchildren.
Last year, she wintered
with Lorene Irwin on the gulf
coast of Florida and more
recently was across Canada
to British Columbia.
At 81, Mrs. Magoffin is
still a very active young lady
who loves to knit, crochet as
well as other handicrafts.
One winter she was embroil-
ed in a great afghan making
marathon competeing with
her daughter, Lorene Irwin
to finish enough afghans to
give as Christmas gifts to
grandchildren.
Mrs. Magoffin will never
turn down a game of euchre,
or a left bower for that
matter. She has suggested
that she misses the euchre
sessions and coffee gather-
ings with her Lucknow
friends and was sorry to
break up housekeeping there
only a short time ago.
She is looking forward to
two weddings this year in the
family. One in British Col-
umbia and one in Barrie,
Ontario.
